Took a look under the truck today to find a pretty bad rust spot right where the A/C condensation drips out.

No idea how I haven't seen this however it looks pretty advanced and is worrying me.

Couple pictures attached here showing the area, it is clearly wet and while under there drops of water were visibly falling on the area.

Confused because if it's simply water why would it be causing such bad rust? The undercarriage gets wet all the time. Also considering the rest of the undercarriage is very clean (for a PA truck). It seems to be just the one spot.

Suggestions? Ideas? Is this even fixable or does it need to be cut out?

My sister also has a 2000 LC with similar mileage, same issue.

Thanks in advance

Edit: Keep in mind there is a bunch of mud in there that could be mistaken for rust. Rust is only on small bracket area. Area location is right up under passenger front wheel well.

My '05 is rusty in that area. Yours looks worse than mine, but got a long way before it's eating thru a frame member.

More importantly, did you notice the big crack in your sway bar?

In that particular area the "surface" of the bar if you will is cracking and flaking away due to rust. Bar itself is O.K. Rubber is also cracked, area certainly needs work.

I have the same thing going on. I am going to add extensions to the drain hose to prevent further damage and POR15 everything.Check the rear AC drain as well..... The rear AC drain was clogged in my truck as i just discovered and rotted out the right rear of the fender well. You should definitely check that. I can poke my finger through the metal all over the place. I have to rip that all apart this weekend and see how bad the damage really is
