Whats up, everybody? I am new to this forum and I am new to the awesome world of the Land Cruiser. I am a total noob when it comes to even working on a vehicle. So, I purchased a 99 LX which is in great condition and runs great. She's only got 116,000 mi. On her and I am hoping to put on many, many more. I purchased this vehicle on Saturday and drove it home about 700 miles on Sunday. I took it up a dirt road (probably the first one this rig has ever seen) and parked it for the evening. I got up the next morning and tried to start her up. I turned the key and all I got was a humming/buzzing sound from under the hood. (Oh crap) I popped the hood to figure out where the buzzing was coming from. The sound was located under the plastic cover that protects the manifold. Removed that and discovered that the buzzing was coming from a part that is connected to the throttle body. I'm not sure what the part is called. Forgive me. Also, the key is in the "ON" position with the buzz happening. There are two plugs attached to this part, so I unplugged the one the that was closest to me. Buzzing stops. I plugged it back in and no buzzing now. I tried turning it over again and nothing. Turned the car off. Turned back on again and I was able to get it to turn over. The idle was low. When I throttled with the pedal, there was barely any power and that was with the gas pedal to the floor. Turned the vehicle off again and on again. This time it started right up like normal, but with a check engine light on. I started it up a couple more times without any issues. Started it up today and no check engine light and is running fine. Any information about this problem is greatly appreciated.

After more research I'm thinking I will have to clean the throttle body or potentially replace the Electronic throttle control. Or maybe it's the starter contacts?

Get it to someone like auto zone or pep boys or someone and let them check the computer for some codes that may be stored from that check engine light. It may save you some time and money. welcome to the board.

Thanks djernie. I was hoping my first post wouldn't be about problems with the vehicle. Ha!
