I don't ever run into a 99 with cloth interior, but found one. Hoping to get some info. Spouse isn't ok with it, due to high miles, but I know these are essentially bulletproof.

Your help appreciated

1999
Cloth interior
Rear A/C option
All windows everything works
No rust anywhere.
Was a mall cruiser
238K miles.
Rear Locker
DUE for a timing belt/water pump change. Seller willing to credit $600 for that.
Original owner
All service records.
Tires/Brakes 4 months old.
New Radiator 8 months old

There is a oil leak in the valve cover gasket (noticed at last service).

Asking price is $7000.

Any thoughts? Body and interior are very clean. All stock, no modifications.

Thanks guys. Aside from the mileage, truck is great. Seller is out of town for one week, so have to wait till he gets back.

I see some 01-03, but they are all in the 12-14K range. I was hoping to get something cheaper as my first cruiser.

Been member here since 2008, and have no cruiser (wasted too much time sching FJ60/62).

With two young boys, driving 5K miles a year max on the LC (roadtrips), I htink the 100 is the best fit.

I'd get it. I have a beat up 99 with over 310,000 miles on it. As long as you see the service records, these things last forever.

From a safety perspective with kids, the hundy is a tank. If safety was your number one goal I'd look for a 2000+ with ESC, and possibly an 03+ with side/curtain airbags, but even a 99 hundy will be safer than most vehicles on the road. The iihs just released their new driver death rates and 3 of the 9 models with no driver deaths were Toyota SUVs.

Hundys also have extremely low injury rates, since those tend to decrease about 20% per thousand pounds of curb weight.

You sound like my wife.:)

Having lived through (in) the Gulf War, my definition of safety is not being shot at. But I agree, that is something I should consider.

As a physician, I should think about safety. But I spent 18k miles a year on 2 wheels and lots of time in a 1800lb sports car.

But I will pass your post to the missus, who will be happy with the safety :)

I'll add to that though. My lady loved the 100 when I bought it, but now it's 1.5 years later and she wants her own. She also understands that we could get a nice one with 200k+ miles and have no issue, if it's been taken care of properly. I really think they grow on the skeptics, and if she needs convincing there's a lot of info out there in the favor of buying the truck you're looking at. That Yahoo article is the first that comes to mind, there's no doubt these are vehicles worth owning.

Absolutely worth owning. We had a UN FJ as my dad's office car when we were kids.

My money, my truck. Not asking for the wife's opinion :D If I ask her opinion, she will want a 200. I don't want to sell a sports car and get a 200.

The one wristdoc was selling here on the forums (his 200) was fantastic.

BUY IT NOW - Cloth is super cool, semi-poverty package. Good value.

With regards to mileage, you'll quickly release after owning one, it ain't that much. Funny thing; cruiser guys associate low-mileage with numbers like 125k, 150k etc... Any other make / model would be sentenced to death.

^^
Agree.
I am a poor person, so a poverty model would suit me just fine :D

I can't buy it now, as seller is out of state (vacation still ). SIGH.

Waiting for him to get back. Never get why people make ad's then leave town.

I think you and I would get along just fine! lol I too spend as much time as I can on 2 wheeled things on the dirt and on pavement, so even though I consider myself to be extremely safe and prefer as much safety gear as possible it could easily be debated by those who do not partake in the fun!

Yes sir, we would. I looked atyour for sale ad at least 5 times so far, and even thought of sending you PM if you want to partner in renting Ducatis in LA (I have a 748 and 1098 now, looking to trade for a 1299).

Great taste! I have a good buddy (future brother in law) who has an 848 in San Francisco, and we've talked about partnering too. Hmm...maybe we should have a chat offline sometime!

nice found , i still can't get over the fact that toyota made a 100 series with poverty package
