im in the market for a 2nd 100 and due to budget I'm mostly finding older LC's with the 4spd tranny. I do a lot of highway driving.

I understand that the 03-up have a 5spd tranny and therefore different shifting points or bands as well as different gear ratio's.

I would like to get an idea of high speed rpm's

My 05 runs about 2k rpm's at a speed of 65 mph with 34.5 tires.

If I were to shift over to 4th gear to mimic a 4spd trans the rpm's shoot up an extra 1k.

May be a bad question but since I haven't driven an older model in years- What can I expect for rpm's at the following mph 55? 60? 65? 70? 75?

Thanks for your time and help

I may be wrong but I think the final gear ratio is the same, if not very close, in the 5 and 4 speeds. Putting yours in 4th gear would not be similar to only having the 4 speed.

Thanks for clearing that up guys .. Honestly I was talking about differential gear ratios 4.10 vs 4.30

in my 99, with stock gears, 305's (33.4'' tall tire) I am running at about 2600 rpms @ 70 MPH on the speedo which is about 74 MPH on the GPS......... I'm 92% sure my stock gears are 4.3....

You can't directly compare the 4.10 vs the 4.30 because the individual gears in the 4sp vs 5sp are different.

With 33" tires 275/60r20 I am running approximately 2300rpm at a gps confirmed 70mph.
