There used to be a more carefree time when every Memorial weekend some friends would climb into a Suburban and drive to Indy for Carb Day, downtown parades, and 200 laps of listening to AJ Foyt cuss out whoever was in his cockpit on the scanner. Then came families and that certain amount of "wisdom" that says $1000 in tickets, fuel, and beer could be better used elsewhere. Regardless of wisdom, or perhaps in spite of it, we still stubbornly gather every Memorial Sunday at my house as an excuse to enjoy food and relax with friends. The kind of thing that makes cruiser folks so darn nice to be around.

If in the GSO area and looking for a Sunday activity you're invited to join us. PM me for directions and so we have an idea of numbers.

Any favorite Indy memories? Post them here.

My father took me to the Indy 500 in 1972, I was 12. It was the coolest thing I had ever done. We went to the pits, met many drivers and had a great time. Memories :)

The year of bolt on wings and big speed gains. Also when Jim Malloy died during practice.

My friends were married on the Start/finish line at Indy. No very common but it helps when your father has won the 500 3 times.

That narrows the list by quite a bit. Was it this guy?
