This was the original engine in my 80 when I bought it. Story I was told was it over heated and blew the radiator out. Everything did turn over when I got it, but it never fired up. Upon further inspection the spark plug boots were melted into the head when I got it and I was able to remove 3 of the 6. I then found a low mileage 1F for really cheap and decided to just swap it out.

Thats all I know about this engine. Now I have this sitting around since I took it out and I dont think I am going to do anything with it anytime soon. If anyone is interested shoot me a message.

It had 185K when pulled. $650 OBO

Sounds like a core engine if it overheated to blow the radiator out. Head gasket blown, head warped more than likely of it melted the spark plugs..

750..... Good luck

Does it still turn over? How does or did the oil look, water or metal in it? 3 of the 6 boots is that plugs too or are they melted to the head?
Thanks

Do you run around trolling peoples adds? I have seen you do it to other too.
I think PMs would be best.

Think of it as a good deed to save the community from being ripped off

I think your just a jack ass with nothing better to do.

Its a dead engine to me. There could be nothing wrong with it (unlikely) and in that case $750 is a steal. I have no idea what its worth, because I picked up the problem of someone else. Hence the OBO tag. I dont need 750 for it, that was just a starting point I came up with based off what I was seeing others go for. If your not interested just shut the **** up and move along.

If you're buying an engine that has been over heated and you DONT know that everything you listed is, a POSSIBILITY not even a guarantee, then you are way over your head already.

Again if you dont like it, shut the **** up and move along.

Thanks!

When I received the vehicle it would turn over on it own power but it never actually fired up. Like stated, the plug boots where melted. this would cause the spark to be utter garbage and I would assume, not fire. I was able to remove the material and spark plugs from the front 3 cylinders. I was working on the back 3 when I found a different running engine I was able to swap out and drive.

The remaining plugs, with effort, should also come out. That was my original intention so that I could do a compression test and start diagnosing the engine. I never made it any farther than that. The oil looked good when drained. It was black but no metal or milky anything.

I figured someone could use it for spare parts or a core. This isn't something I expected someone to drop right in their ride and go. But in that random situation that the head gasket is good and the head is not warped, this could still be a steal with 185K and all the accessories.

A steal would be something people are filling your inbox for if priced appropriately.

Imho it just depends how fast you want it gone...or how much parting out hassles you want to deal with to extract some $$'s out with the head being the most valueable of the bits/and possibly suspect.

Most people wont haul an 800lb boat anchor away if they want a few parts. Even crazy 1fz people like me. :)

most people arent going to go thru the hassle of going thru a suspect candidate for resto....when theres plenty of cheap good candidates for that sort of project. (Heck u even decided to make the smart move and do the same with respect to this one)

Just as an fyi from someone who stalks these:
- i have 2 sub 175k milers fresh pulls that i know of that people just want gone. Free . (LS/diesel swaps)
- 200k plus milers rarely fetch over $400......often seen asking $500 and taking $350. (Runners no issues)
- a few broken 1fz's per mo. Hg/etc are given awayjust to clear shop space.
- lots of em are parted out if people have the time and desire to yank a head/egr/intake pipe etc.and maybe net $600-700.
- the above is simply what the market is up to right now.

One strategy ive employed with good success.....is giving the chunk away for free/super cheap to someone local who can use some of it with the caveat that IF something on your newly installed engine goes south.....you can contact him and see if you can grab that spare 'xxxx' part he didnt end up using. Clears up your space....pays it forward....and may pay u back when u are in a jam for a part somewhere down the line.
