Are there any SAS kits for the 96 and up 4runner? Or writeups how to make one yourself. I'm looking into getting a 4runner and doing a solid axle swap. An 80 series Land Cruise rhas been recommended to me but a 6" lift is 3 grand. Way too much.

seeking MICHIGAN 96-02 4Runner - free parts/install

I own a '99 4Runner and am looking to eliminate my hood prop rod to a "hood strut" system. Here is a link to a company that sells such items:

http://www.redlinetuning.com/products_quicklift.html

They have already developed Tacoma based hood struts and are now perfecting a QUICKLIFT for the 4Runners. If you are in or near Dexter Michigan please contact the company directly and allow them to use your Runner as a "guniea pig" . It is my understanding the parts and installation will be free-they will be expecting feedback on how well their system is working.

I have no financial stake in this-just wanting to buy their newest product-which they won't put up for sale yet until beta tested.

I am new to IH8MUD forums but am a newbie member of Rising Sun Toyota club in Denver. I apologize in advance if I have posted to the wrong area or thread.

See you in Moab for Cruise Moab 2007 (May 2-6) a TLCA sanctioned event!

Yes. Plenty of both; kits and write-ups. Check tacomaterritory.com and yotatech.com

any 95.5-04 tacoma kit will work. along with marlins, or pretty much anybodys leaf sprung kit.

how hard are you going to wheel it? there are a few very good IFS lifts that will get you to 95% of a solid axle 4runner.

I figure at the point where I don't care about body damage, is the time to swap.
check out www.sonoransteel.com for the IFS lift. I have the #1 kit and absolutely love it.
make sure to find an e-locked 4runner, or do the ARB air lockers.

if you think 3k for a lift is too much, then sac'ing a 3rd gen is going to blow your mind. plan 6k and hope to do it cheaper. the kits may not look like a lot, but there are a ton of hidden things that come up. ask anyone that has done it.

I thought it over and I think I am going to get a an older 4runner because it would be easier. I would just get leaf springs in the front, because on a 3rd gen leaf springs in the front coils, in the back seems a bit tarded. Thanks for the input. So I can probably do a SAS on a 2nd gen. for around a grand right?

I can do all the labor and welding by myself, would I be able to piece my own SAS kit for cheaper?

im sure you can, but it will be more expensive than going with a kit proven to work well.
look on www.ttora.com and if you dare, www.pirate4x4.com about doing a solid axle conversion.

I've already had my fair share of pirate4x4 dissage from when I had mY 93 Jeep YJ.

At the risk of repeating (or re-iterating, let's say), doing a SAS on a 3rd gen 4runner is hugely complicated to do well. There is NO kit to do it.

I can be done, but it is expensive and complicated. Just ask me. See my signature.

I live in Central Calif, and have very little mechanical/welding experience.
Where would I go if I were to have the SAS done to my Tacoma? I just put on
Donahoe front coilovers, ARB +winch. I hate to ask..but what do you think it would cost me to just drop the truck off at a shop and have some PROs do it??
TTORA would be a good start. Thanks!
