Well since i am diving into an exhaust manifold. I see there are 2 O2 sensors on my 96. before and after the cat.

i am told the upstream one is used to manipulate the fuel by the computer and the downstream one provides the dummy lite for when the converter is done.

Is that the truth? Toyota wants like 300 bucks for a sensor... is this for real the cost or any cheaper options?

Oh just for fun asked about a new catalytic converter.. well over a $1000..... holy crap and I thought vette parts were a heavy touch!

Send me your VIN # , I will price out the sensors for you.

If you are not tripping codes then don't bother with the 02 sensors. They are not cheap but Jacque will get you the best price. As far as replacing the cat you can source a magna flow unit for about 160.00

thanks guys.... I ordered the new one the same day or so that I started this thread. I paid the big cash. $300.00 up here...
Can't say that I noticed any real difference... mileage might have improved a bit..for sure it didn't get worse.

Thanks though.. if I need one down the road and the offer is still open I will check in..
