1994 FZJ80. 250K Miles. No lockers. Head gasket finally crapped out on me. I don't have the money to invest into fixing it so it's time to let my favorite truck ever go. Hopefully to someone interested in replacing the head gasket and giving the truck a renewed life. But, it is what it is. I know its basically a parts truck at this point to many of you. But anyway, Selling as is.
Truck was purchased by my Father in 2000 (with the help of my convincing back then.) owned and used by myself, my Father and immediate family since. Currently owned by me and has been for the last 5 years or so. Never had any serious mechanical issues. Just the head gasket is the only problem keeping me from driving daily as I have been.
Used it for driving to work and back for the last 4 years (Only 10 miles round trip in town) otherwise almost always use a Corolla for other driving needs. It will obviously need some preventative maintenance/baselining so it can be up to the usual I8mud member's standards.
-Damage to the front bumper and associated parts.
-Front fender damage. Clear coat peeling off in areas (Mostly around front fenders and definitely on the roof)
-Changed the oil with the regular frequency. Never had any oil leakage issues.
-Oil pressure switch stopped working. I replaced with a new one but the wiring to it broke. So gauge is still not working.
-Wiring on the rear defroster broke at the solder joint. Rear defrost doesn't work currently.
-Power windows work but are a little slow. Driver window there is an issue with the switch, it operates at times, and at times doesn't.
-I have not had the transmission oil flushed nor have I done a fluid exchange in the time of my ownership. (I am not sure if/when it has been done in the past.)
-Shifts fine for me mostly when driving around town, kind of does this minor rev up thing but than shifts down fast when taking corners at times (low speed 5-10 mph) not sure what that's about. Drove fine for me on highways.
-Idled up normally as it should.
-Some times when its really cold out throttle seems to stick when not fully warmed up.
-Had the front drive shaft replaced.
-Had some overheating issues when it was low on coolant (This was last year.) but topping up the coolant corrected that until its head gasket demise about 3 weeks ago.
-Sunroof leaks near the front of the vehicle when it rains. Slight mildew smell.
-Catalytic converter was removed (Rusted out and really loud) had a good muffler shop weld in replacement pipe.
-Interior is okay. I tried to kept it clean and vacuumed it up often.
-Front seats are in bad shape.
-Aux transmission cooler isn't connected but it is there...??? No idea why/how its like that... Tranny is radiator cooled. (Apparently that was a thing for some without towing package even though this does have a hitch, guess some P.O had it disconnected.)
-Pretty much lived its entire life in the midwest. North Dakota/Wisconsin/Iowa. So yeaaaah its rusty on the bottom and there is a soft spot on driver floor where its rusted out (In corner by brake pedal area/near door)
No idea what to ask for considering the shape, condition and work needed. Make me an offer if you want it. Like I said, I drove it daily up until HG went on me. Gotta sell as is, I don't have the time to part it out bit by bit.
