I was replacing my speakers per the instructions I have gotten from many threads, and I got to the front dash speakers. I noticed that on mine the speaker grill is actually built into the dash. Is there an easy way to get access to these without taking the whole dash apart?

If I remember correctly, you just have to remove two screws to pull the glove box. The driver side is just a small panel as well. I don’t remember it being difficult at all. If you can pull a door panel, you can get to these.

The glovebox side one is on a removable panel. The drivers side one is fixed to the lower fascia panel if I remember correctly.

I renewed mine some time back with some nice Kenwood 4" units and the only issue I recall was dealing with how the old speakers had badly degraded and damaged where they mounted to the plastic.

The removable panel for the glovebox side might stil be avail as a new part but I cannot buy RHD lower dash fascias new any more.

Yep, the glove box side is a breeze. One screw I believe and it just pops free. The driver side panel is simple too. I think just four screws and two or three snap clips and it pulls off quite well without breaking it anything. Here is a pic of the front and back for reference. You don’t need to bust it completely free like this pic shows, just enough to get a driver inside to pull the speaker (which is mounted to the trim piece by the way). Leave the fuel and hood release intact.

Most people use the door speakers only. The location and direction of the dash speakers don't contribute to a good soundstage. Disconnected from the sound system they can instead be used for a remote speaker for a Ham Radio or CB.

I've got nice 6 x 9 speakers in proper vented boxes mounted on my custom shelves directly behind the second row seat. Good powerful sound and not dependent on the bizarre harmonics and echo chamber effect of the doors. But each to their own. I'm currently running the speakers straight off my head unit but I have a seperate Alpine 'block' arm fitted up but not yet wired up to replace the lower-capacity amps in the head unit (also will keep the head unit a lot cooler when on).

Thanks for the info. I was reading how people usually use the pioneer 6 1/2s on the doors, which is what I got. I also got the 6" Pyle for the rear. When I searched for the four 6 1/2s some 4" three ways pioneers popped up on Amazon for like $30

So I thought what the heck. Being that hardly anyone replaces these I didn't find any instructions. I will be tackling these tomorrow, and hopefully finishing up the job. By the way for what it's worth those pioneer 6 1/2s sound awesome for anyone that's not looking to get to technical with the sound dynamics. I little enginuity is needed for the back doors, but that's all covered in previous posts.
