I did a search and couldn't find the answer. I mangled my rear driveline at CM and might be able to pick up a used 93 driveline cheaper than a re-tube. Are there any differences in lengh or design between the 93 and 97 rear drivelines?
thanks,
dmc

Not if the 93 has a VC transfer case and a FF rear axle.

There are two different drive shafts. One that fits all 91-92 and 93-94 without the VC transfer and a drum brake semi float rear. The other is shorter and fits 93-94 with a VC case and a FF disc brake rear and all 95-97 vehicles.

CDan- On a related note, I was under the impression that the transfer case was mounted in different locations on the '93-94 and '95-97 models when the tranny was changed to the 343. Are both front and rear driveshafts the same parts from '93-94 -> '95-97?

thank you sir. it is coming from a 93 that does have the vc case and full float. that was easier than getting mine retubed.

DMC--

If you need one, I have a newly balanced/new OEM u-jointed one for the 97 rear.

Let me know.

The front shaft is the same for 91-97.

As I already mentioned there are two possible rear shafts. In a nut shell there is one for a VC case and one for a non-VC case.

Dave,
I was on the Kanes Creek run that you led. That last series of ledges was a bear. Is that where you mangled the rear?

Onur,

Thanks for the offer but unfortunately my friend rolled his 80 last november so i'll be using his. He has new Toyota ujoints to go with it. His loss is my gain I guess.

I think I did it on Steelbender on Friday messing around ledge near the beginning of the trail but not positive. You'll remember my first attempt on the ledges on Kane I was too lazy to 3 point turn and tried the further left line. It may have happened there. Time for some real rear control arms that will hold up and not bend so they'll hit before the driveline. Or just learn how to pick better lines.
