The display has failed on my OEM radio. I have looked into it and the displays fail in similar way as a vacuum tube. I have found to way to repair the OEM head unit.

I'd like to install a head unit from a 2002 Toyota Highlander. I have two # 86120-52241 units that are said to be working. They are double din and have the mounting holes in the right places to fit correctly.

I do not want to cut into the factory wiring. I see pigtails are available for the 2002 unit. I see that there may be female plugs that attach to the truck's molex. I have found some Russian wiring documents on the web. I home-brew electronics as a hobby. Matching the wires in the truck to the new head units must be done correctly.

Has anyone done this job? Any words of advice? Resources?

Thanks in advance

I put a 2013ish Scion deck in my 96. Wiring wise... I plugged it in. The stock wiring worked as it was, though the factory amp had already been deleted. I don't know how different the wiring is on a 92 vs a 96, but it might just work. You'll obviously want to hunt down the wiring diagram for your Cruiser and google the pinout for the head from the Highlander, but it may require... nothing.
