In my 91 runner I'm getting ready to install a 95 runner axle housing I modded to accept a taco elocker. On the 91(and at least 92) the ABS pickup is located somewhere on the 3rd(haven't looked). On the 95 the ABS rings are located on the axle shafts.
I'd like to pickup some spare axle shafts to use as trail spares, on one of the 95's the PO used a dremel or ziz wheel on a die grinder to cut off the bearing collar and cut DEEP into the shaft. I'm concerned this may be a signifcant stress concentration factor and could cause snapage.
Anyone know if the early(non ABS shaft) axles will work in an ABS on the shafts housing? Since the oil seals seat on the collars and the ABS rings have collars as well, on the later model housings Toyota designed the seals to seat further in the housing, so my guess is early shafts won't work in a later housing, but later shafts w/out the ABS ring will work in early IFS r housings
This makes no sense unless you've torn one apart I know......
TIA
Tony
