How much does it cost to do the 90k service on a 100 series? And what all is involved? :bust2:

You first have to define what the 90K service is. I think most Toyota dealers (probably all dealers) create their own definitions so that they can charge their customers more. Their service schedules are probably more intensive than what the manufacturer recommends.

So find out what's on their service schedule, figure out what you need, and go from there. At 90K, you're probably due/overdue for a front end service and starter contacts--things you won't find on the dealer's list. Then again, the dealer will have "inspected" every orifice and crevice of your truck, and charged you what it would have cost to do the work that should have properly been done anyway.

I just got the tranny flushed, all 3 diffs flushed, and the front bearings repacked. Probly do spark plugs, wires, and a distrubutor cap too.

isn't that the time to get the timing belt changed? :P

I was at the dealer this morning and noticed that their "xx,000" mile service includes mostly inspections of this and that, some fluid changes like oil, and hardly any repairs.

I was mainly interested in getting a reading of the engine codes, so I got an engine diagnostic. My other post says what repairs they recommended, but I also searched this site in hopes of finding a list of things to replace.

Maybe we need a list of top-10 items to repair at 60k, 90k, and 120k miles.

Not a bad idea. I guess it would need to be taylored to the different series of cruisers also, since they vary some.

Is that tha same as cogged?? I didn't think cogged belts were OEM. If so, FWIW, I don't think you want it. Much more noisy.

I do not have a clue as what it is. My guess is that it is a serpentine belt. I have not even seen the LC in person yet. C-Dan can you clarify this for us? The part # is 90916-02463 Ribbed v-belt for her pleasure! :D

And what pray tell, did they do and what did you learn from whatever they told you?

On the engine codes, the dealer said there found no error codes. However, a technician inspected the engine and determined that I needed these repairs (as I posted on another thread -- directly from my receipt):

"1. Replace distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and wires -- misfire
2. Replace valve cover gaskets and adjust valves -- gaskets are leaking and valves are making noise
3. Replace fuel filter -- dirty
4. Fuel injection and throttle body service -- excessive carbon build up
5. Replace all 4 shocks -- 3 are leaking
6. Replace front steering knuckle seals -- leaking
7. Four-wheel alignment

Customer declines repairs."

I'm having my mechanic service the basic stuff and I'm taking the Cruiser to a specialist to deal with the more complicated service items like #6.

In retrospect, it appears that the "engine light" has to go on in order for engine error codes to exist. If this is true, it's no wonder the dealer recommended a 4-wheel alignment!

lizard where di it go?

That is known as "drive 'em in and push 'em out" :D

That is indeed the accessory drive belt.

My wife and I will go and get it this weekend in Boulder and will meet with Bradass80 from this board. He went to the dealer to check it out for us. :D
I'll bring it by sometime during the week.
C-dan is this drive belt the "good one"? What is a cogged belt? (like was mentioned earlier) ???

sorry to hear about that one lizard,
never dealt with ensign toyota, after one visit to mark though I decided to do my own wrenching on whatever I was driving.
Dave

It is an OEM belt. They are the flat ones with grooves in them that run along the length of the belt, AKA polygroove or serpentine belts.

A cogged belt is a v-belt that is not smooth on it's inner surface. It has a series of "notches" accross the belt.
