Whoops, I meant to say using a front HP in the rear, that doesn't work well.

You can read about that here:

Erik's Toyota Differential info

I am planning on running a 1UZFE > R151F > Dual cases >39's.

I figure it's a good combo for breaking stuff...but if a 8" would work fine well...let me know haha...They're easy to get.

matt.mcinnes just sheared off his longfields but his front diff didn't fail.

Is the 80s front diff weaker than the 60s?

I don't know about weaker, but it is smaller.

Wow...How come you always hear guys saying stuff like, "Oh man I keep blowing up my Yota axle I need one tons".

I kind of thought they went to one tons for the diff strength, not the ends, since Longfields are nigh impossible to kill?

In all my years wheeling, I think I've seen one or two diffs let go. Countless U-joints, axle shafts, drive shafts, hubs, stubs, knuckles though.

Shafts and U-joints/birf's are by FAR the weakest link in your axles.

The thing with yota axles is, you end up upgrading almost every part on them except basically gears and the third casing to end up with a strong axle. Gear choices are limited if you want them to be strong (4.11) 1 tons end up being just as affordable. But you will end up with a lighter setup with the yota stuff if you care about weight (I do).

Man I am really learning a lot in this thread...Clearing some things up. Thanks for all the information and patience y'all.

I think I'll end up going with Diamond housings with Yota hardware I guess...Maybe Cruiser diffs if I can find them.

The things about upgrades is, no one gets a Dana 60 and just slaps it on really; whatever you get, you want to upgrade. Or at least you end up doing that when it breaks.

I don't think I'll be shattering Birfs and shafts left and right when this is all set up, I'm pretty tame on the pedal..

I've really never broken much so...Just little stuff, windows, body damage, driveshaft guard, radiator, etc.
