I will start by saying, i do not want to sell this rig (as is the case with all of my 60's i have sold) The reason I bought it is: I was approached by the owner. He saw I was selling my brown 84, and had an idea i would want to replace it. He was correct, and his fit exactly what i wanted/want. I could not walk away from it so i bought it. At the same time I had a 91 fj80 lined up for my wife. She turned her rig down to save money. Today she decided I need to sell the 62 and go get her 80, so I will oblige. We absolutely LOVE our Cruisers, we just need a 62 and an 80, just wont work out at this time, so she gets hers, and i'll get mine later.

Bought this rig from azaussie here on mud. The only reason its for sale is for the sake of my wife

the bad:
250k miles
mildly sloppy steering....due to the lift no doubt, mostly a vague feeling
drivers window binds sometimes...just have to help it sometimes
sliver blue paint is shot
Was in an accident with PO....just a front fender, and bumper replaced

the good:
4wheel drive is solid and works great
engine runs great and strong
new Third row seat...8 passengers total
2.5 ome Dakar heavy lift...sits more like 4' though
3.5 inch anti inversion shackles
good tires
new brakes
feels good on the highway
100% RUST FREE!!!!
A/C blows very cold....it will freeze you

Willing to trade for an 80....or will sell for(new price $3500) $3950 OBO (sorry Tim, did not intend to resale but wife's happen, haha) you can call mike at 520-248-7175 or pm me for my email adress. Thanks for looking and all feedback is much appreciated

I know I'm a noob, but an honest word of warning about Mike.... I bought his red fj60 roughly a year ago. He claimed the truck was ready to go around the world and he raged about all the new parts and work he had put into it. It was all a line of BS. Within 3 months, most of the truck needed to be rebuilt. The tie rods had a dangerous amount of slop, his rinky dink desmog created multiple vacuum leaks, turned out to have 2 bent rims, several bolts were completely missing or extremely loose (including where the driveshaft meeds the third member was missing 2 of 4 bolts WTF?) My family's safety has been compramised more than once in this truck, and it has since been parked until I can completey go through everything to ensure our safety. I've tried to contact Mike but he will not respond to my emails, so it has come to this.

Buyer BEWARE!

You tried to contact me? Bull sh*t. Everything I told you I did to the truck, had been done. The steering was sloppy when you test drove it, and I pointed it out to you. As I recall, YOU helped me swap those wheels over, and I gave YOU my torque wrench to tighten them up. I also told you, "at any time you want your $3300 dollars back I'll give it to you". That offer still stands by the way. So go on and slam my Integrity, but at the end of the day, YOU are the tool......Also 3-4 months ago I emailed you to have you call me. As I mentioned when you bought the truck, the desmog could develop leaks, and told you to watch it. When I emailed you to call me 4 months ago, it was in regards to that issue, and I wanted to make sure you made it through smog. If you call me for your money, or want me to fix your truck (for free, as I also told you I would do as long as you own the truck) I expect an apologie. Good luck with your rig, and by the way, the 62 sold a long time ago.

Hold on.... WOW! You're a compulsive liar buddy. I emailed you several times... you never replied. I don’t have your phone number by the way. I even stopped at your house... no luck. I'm sorry that I may seem harsh in my judgments about you, but they are well justified. Let me explain.

Here's some things I’ve had to address to just make it SAFE:

1. At the drive shaft couple (where it meets the 1/3) was missing 2 bolts. The remaining two became loose, and this caused a severe failure on the road whereby the driveshaft got slapped around and bent. Big $$$
2. Steering... OMG. Joints were ALL shot. P/S pissed oil like no tomorrow (I recall noticing this and you played it off and told me a random lie about how you had to add oil to the smog pump so it wouldn’t squeal... BS)
3. Wheels... 2 of 4 bent. Big $$$
4. Wiring... a complete rats nest, many jimmy rigged connections, lots of electrical tape (which anybody with an ounce of intelligence will tell you is a HUGE NO-NO for under hood wiring)

Let me move onto some other problems that I had (and still am working) to fix:

1. De-smog: WOW, completely rookie (coming from a peculiar fellow who claimed to work as a Ferrari mechanic). Vacuum hoses plugged with bolts that didn't fit, leaks at ‘home-made’ EGR block off, 'double gasket' header leaks, etc, etc, etc. Engine was running WAY lean (still managed to FAIL smog BTW, more on that later)
2. A/C: In your ad (here: IH8MUD.com - Page Not Found) , you stated A/C was full charged with new seals... BLATANT LIE, and you know that. I subsequently had a vacuum pulled on the system. Guess what. Leaks, leaks, leaks. Was it charged? You guessed it folks (no).
3. Oh and the valve noise that I noticed... I was right. Valves way off. Call Dans Toy shop (Tucson AZ) and ask about the valve adjustment for this truck. I have the specs and receipt if you care to gander.
4. Cooling system: Thermostat locked up, caused a slight engine overheat and blew the radiator. If I recall correctly you claimed to have replaced this as well... LIE (I see a pattern here)
5. SMOG/EMISSIONS: As claimed in your ad (here: IH8MUD.com - Page Not Found) this truck puts out practically zeros. I have the emissions failure numbers if you want to see those as well. Failed miserably at idle, it did put out zeros under load; it was running so lean on the main that my mechanic was surprised to see the engine still running (testament to the durability of this motor). To dig deeper into the emissions surprise, I typed in the VIN on ADEQ website to get the emissions history. HMMM... seems you had a little trouble getting it to pass huh (I counted at least 8 failures before it passed). Then I started to wonder how you got it to pass, so I did some digging and found a post on here, by you, telling other members you used straight ethanol to trick smog. My mechanic told me that this could be potentially bad for seals and hoses in the fuel system. You didn’t disclose any of this information even when I specifically asked you about the emissions without all the smog parts. LIES

Furthermore, you had promised to give me the smog parts you pulled off the truck (which is why I tried to contact you in the first place). This was a deal breaker for me because I knew I would need these to fix your BOTCHED de-smog.

Oh and your offers to work on my truck... knowing what I now know, you will NEVER touch it. And on your offer to take the truck back for what i paid ($3200 not $3300 BTW) I would be moronic (much like yourself) to do this after I have spent several thousand dollars to fix your bullsh*t.

I thought about filing a small claims lawsuit against you but it's not worth my time or money. I would love to get together sometime to really express my disgust with you and your lies. You put my family's safety and well being in jeopardy, something YOU should be apologizing for. You really can't trust anyone's word nowadays. I thought you were a good guy, this simply was not the case.

As I have proved, YOU'RE the tool. I look forward to your refutation, but I doubt you will have one.

I would love for MUD members to chime in on this.

Regards

Look Dan either you are confused, have a memorie that is horrible, or you have buyers remorse. As I recall you were pretty stoned when you bought the truck, so Im guessing you just dont recall all the details, so I wont blame you for slamming me, I thougt you were a pretty cool guy. The steering, I told you it was sloppy, and you drove it. Thats on you. As far as the header leaking, they leak, they always will, and I told you there was risk of it. Did you re torque the header like I told you to? I am guessing no! Wiring? Never once touched the wiring under the hood, that was the PO. Thermostat? I told you it needed to be replaced, as the truck never heated up in the winter, I have never once replaced a thermostat on a LC. Drive line? I'd have to apologize on that, once I finished the clutch, I got injured at work, and my buddie buttoned the rest of that up, I knew better to double check, but I didnt, my mistake. Passinging smog? I attempted with ethenol once, but it failed so I never did it again, did you read that in my post? NOPE! To get it to pass I leaned it way out, retarded the timing, and disconnected the PCV from the air cleaner. And yes it di put out nearly zero's, I have the emissions slip filed away to prove it. P/S? That was a used one I picked up from BEEP BEEP, if it leaks replace the damn thing, they are $60. And yes I did put 10w30 in the air pump, and it did spill out. The damn pump was gutted, and was noisy as hell, pull it open and look for yourself. A/C? Yes I did replace all the seals, and put on a used A/C pump. In the ad I said it was charged, only because I planned to have it charged before it was sold. I told you that, and told you to take it to Rex at Cool Stream, because it was not charged. Remember now? Probably not! If the system leaked, I couldnt say why, the seals were new, and properly installed. Maybe the condensor was bad, or a hose was bad, who knows. Didnt you test the A/C when you test drove it? YES you did:clap:. Valve adjust off? Not likley, I followed the FSM to the letter, your buddie at the "toybox" doesnt know what he is talking about. Now you can make the tolerances tighter, and that will quiet them down, but it will damage you valvetrain. Your truck, you should learn to do that yourself. I think you are just bitter, and you may feel you over paid. It is real easy to sit over there and stew, and fabricate a story, you forgot what we talked about. I am assuming you are not a liar, and you just forgot, as you were stoned when you bought the truck. I still think you're a good kid, and am still willing to do anything I can to help you. You feel I have wronged you? I think I have shown I am more than willing to restore any bitter feelings, because I am. I don't want you, or anyone else thinking I am a liar, because I am not. Im still willing to resolve anyting you feel I have done wrong. I told you that when you bought the truck, I told you that in the last post, and I am telling you that now. I love LandCruisers, and I respect the people on this forum, I am not going to intentionally rip someone off, but I may make an occasional mistake, and I am willing to fix any mistake I may have made. Good luck with the truck. -Mike

EDIT: As far as how many times I put it through Emissions, You pulled the carfax history before you bought it, and we went over all that. Emissions history was in the carfax, so I am even more convinced your memory is slipping.

EDIT: One more thing. It's a 25 year old truck! What the crap did you expect! If you wanted something new, you should have bought something new! (no disrespect or sarcasm intended)

I am fully aware that its a 25 yo truck. I expect to have to work on it. I don't like being blatantly lied to. You lied all the way around and you know it. You will never touch my truck bud. Good luck in life, but remember, karma's a B****.
