Went by a local dealership today to see this 88 fj62. They had a deposit on it but seems like the buyer flaked our. Now I’m sitting here trying to convince the wife that I need another car before we move cross country to Denver in a few months.

Anyways, it’s pretty clean and I think can be had a what I believe to be a decent price. It was lisited on their website for 15k but I have little doubt that 10k would take it.

Pros: it’s really clean and largely original. Engine bay was clean with smog equipment still in place.

Cons:
# The suspension sits flat in the front
# power steering pump wines but steering overall without a ton of slop
# blower for heat/ac seems out but may just be the cb
# only real rust seemed to be in the back lift gate. Doors, roof, and rear quarters looked good.
# brakes were terrible but may just be air in the lines

I’m not affiliated in any way, but would like to see someone end up with a decent cruiser if I can’t be the one. Salesman I spoke to was Clayton Morris (Everett Infiniti) and volunteered up his number for any interested parties. His number is (870) 403-6000. Said it’s likely being listed online Monday. They don’t know much about the truck but I can try to get by and take photos if someone here is interested.

I was told this truck had the engine from an 89 transplanted under the hood. They were unable to tell me how many miles were on the engine that was put in. $15K is out of the question, 10K would be a decent buy if you can get some details on the engine.

Drivers side door is tweaked pretty good and then theres a dent in the back door on the same side. Not sure what works and what doesn't. Mirrors, windows, locks, etc.

I heard nothing about the engine transplant. The drivers door and driver passenger side do each have a dent. Honestly didn’t mess with the locks etc as I was hastily going over it. When I initially went to see it they told me it had sold so I didn’t go over it very well. Found out early evening they had taken a deposit but the guy seemingly “flaked” per them. Went back out and tied to go over it a touch better but it was darker and I was limited in time. It definitely needs a good going over and isn’t perfect.

Girl at the dealership told me the initial sales price they agreed upon was 10k so I assume they’d go for it again but who knows. Frame looked good and spare matches the other wheels/tires on the truck.
