Just found this on Craigslist in Pass Christian. I've sent an email just to inquire. If anyone up north wants it I could go check it out.

88 Toyota Landcruiser for ????
88 Toyota Landcruiser for ???? - $2500 (Pass Christian)

Not currently running but in perfect shape! Motor is a trade out with low low miles on it just needs to be worked on and gone through. Like I said, body is amazing and has brand new exhaust system. What do you want to trade?

If the engine isn't running on a 62 then go ahead and assume that the tranny is shot too.

FWIW I paid $2500 for a 88 that was in great shape and had a perfect engine but a bad tranny. Tranny rebuild will run you $2K+/-.

So I would guess he is about $1000 high.

Here is the reply:

It is actually the FJ62. It really just needs an overhaul on the engine. I'm not really sure specifically what it is, but the engine in it is one that I bought second hand. I know it has great compression and everything...and everything electrical works great! It used to be my daily driver about 2 years ago but I moved to Texas and left it with my dad. I moved back in Jan. and it has just been sitting there. I bought a new battery since it wasn't starting, but it's more than that. It turns just fine, it just won't start. I'm sure it's something simple, I'm just ready for a new project. Still looks awesome! Just a tiny little spot of rust on the corner of the hood, besides that not a dent or scratch on it. It is an automatic and I think it would need a good cleanout on the tranny. The dash, the seats, the headliner, and all the glass are in great shape! Hope that answers some of your questions :)

I'll try to get by there this weekend and take some pics for whoever is interested!

Holy sheite!

That's my old Fj62!

When I sold it to him it had a thrown rod, but the body was PERFECT!

I'll upload some pics ASAP and we'll see if it is, in fact, the same 62.

OOOOOHH SNAP!

I just had to have my first cruiser back, so I bought it today. WTF was I thinking.....paid $1700 w/ FSM, EWD, and Tranny Build manual. Gonna flat tow my first love to North MS at the end of June.......

Gotta edit my Signature now.

Me too but at $1700 you have a little wiggle room.

I can't wait to see it again!!!!!

Leo?

Didn't you use to sail? I think we raced Lasers at the same time with Zane et. al. back in the late 80's/early 90's on the coast. I did the Team LYRA racing for a couple summers and then went to the Naval Academy and was on the team with a bunch of coast guys- I think I bought a Laser that was yours at one time.

It's gotta be you!?!

Yeah Ben, it IS me.

Zane was my coach for a few years in the early 90's. We sailed Lasers together many times....Giuseppe's Wharf regatta, etc....those were good times. After Ole Miss (7 year plan), I was in Gulfport and sailed big boats or double handed Scots since my weight ballooned. I was there until Katrina left us homeless and we moved in with my wife's parents in Oxford. Been here ever since.

Still sailing?

Awesome! You know, I have a picture that I found recently of I think you, me, one of the chamberlain kids, Zane, and Eugene, I think- at Guiseppi's Wharf in the late 80's, early 90's! When I moved from Jackson a few years back I moved my Catalina 30 to Alan's marina (he used to own the restaurant), right next door- the restaurant blew away in Ivan but just got built back last year. Good times.

Yeah, still sailing some. Downsized to a Cape Dory Typhoon. Don't have anything fast anymore. Got into Star boats for a while and then the fleet fizzled.

tcb,

You gotta refresh my memory.....
