I actual got some work done on this project this weekend. I removed the engine/trans from the donor pickup. I was suppose to drop the 4Runner off at the body shop but they have a 50's model Ford pickup in the shop right now. I hope that I can drop it off next weekend and while it's in the body shop I'm going to change the head gaskets and timing chain on the 4.3L. I will be taken a week of leave in July that I plan to use to get the engine in the 4Runner.

Took to the 4Runner to the body shop last weekend and I can't wait to see it in person.

I gave the guy the paint code for Speedway blue but this doesn't look like the same shade of blue. Which I think looks better, I can't wait to see it in person. I should be dropping the 4.3 in a few weeks. I'll be on leave from the 5th to 19th and have set aside the last week to work on the 4Runner. Right now the only thing I need to get some engine mounts and the clutch from advance adapters. The mounts that were on greenseamans 94 were for a V6 and the 86 was a 22re which uses a different mount. Also greenseaman told me that the clutch was starting to slip, the bad part is advance adapters wants almost $400 for the clutch.

Should be picking up the 4Runner form the body shop sometime tomorrow. Here's the pics that he sent me this weekend.

The 4Runner isn't ready but should be in a few more days.

Can't wait to see the pictures!

What color FJ60 do you have? I passed a silver FJ60, could have been a 62 since I didn't see the head lights.

A friend of my mom's is painting it, he has a small body shop and does work on the side. I went there a couple times this week and it looks good but there was a couple runs. He'll take care of them before I get it.

I went trough all the interior that came with the 4Runner. I wasn't too happy and I wish I would have done that when I bought it. I have 80% of the interior and dash is the wrong color (BROWN), I was told that it was gray. So unless I can find a cheap gray dash I'm going paint it with some plastic paint. I also need to find some door panels.

I have been looking for someone to paint my 60. I stopped by a few of the local shops and got quotes, but they were the typical insurance shops... i was not to impressed with their work. I just had my 4runner painted at earls after a tree fell on it. They did an okay job, I found a few 1/2 ass spots in the clear coat.

Man I know what you're talking about Earl's, they did the insurance repairs on my wife's old Frontier and I had to take it back 3 times. I would have taken it back again but I was tired of dealing them and sold the truck.

If you don't mind driving it 2.5 hours to Andrews to get painted, I can bring you back. The guy that's painting the 4Runner was working full time at Georgetown Steel but the shut the mill down, so he's been doing more body work. He told me that he's licensed and can do insurnace claims, I've seen a few other vehicles and bikes that he's painted and they look good. The 4Runner looks really good but there is a few spots that need to be redone.

If you're inerested I can PM you his #.

Steven

Thanks for the offer. My 60 is not tagged, insured, and needs mechanical work before it could make it to Georgetown.

Picked up the 4Runner from the body shop today. I know understand why is took so long but I'm glad it's done. The windshield is suppose to be getting put in this week but it was also suppose to be put in last week. I put the door windows, outside handles, locks, and door seals on the 4Runner today. I can't wait to get started on getting the 4.3 in, I still to get a new clutch for it but I'm going to work on getting engine bolted up and wired. I am also thinking about removing the 3" body lift and going with a 1" body lift instead. Here's a couple pics,

hard to believe what that truck has become since I first saw it the day before you. Hope your progress continues to come along so well.

My Brother will be home for R&R leave from Iraq this weekend. I'm sure he's going to be happy with the 4Runner and will glad to actual get to turn some wrenches on it himself. I was really hopping to atleast have the engine installed but the body shop screwed me out of all my time I set aside. I'm taking leave while he's home and hope we can get the wiring done and the rest of the dash in. I'll try and get some more pics. We're also going camping at Devils Fork state park and do some kayaking.
