Alright, got committed to a 3.4 swap in another rig, and need the cash, so I have to sell my awesome little diesel 4Runner. Running strong, purs like a kitten, cold starts great, trubo spools great, all that info about cracked heads is wrong - you just have to know what you're doing with this engine and it'll run forever. Loves diesel or biodiesel. Has quite a few mods to make it last long and live healthy. Pics are here, with a bunch of explanation:

1986 Diesel 4Runner (2LT-II) - Imgur

Will come without the winch (explains why in the photos). Has a rebuilt injection pump, with viton seals, so regular diesel doesn't hurt it. Turbo is recently rebuilt. New injectors, and now it pulls awesome. Clutch does start to slip at highway speeds up a hill though. Asking $4000, or best offer. You can't even get just the engine for that, let alone a whole rig. Lemme know,

Hi Spruce,

I have a few questions about the rig.

Was the engine new when you put it in, or was it from a donor vehicle?
If it was in another rig first, how many miles were on it before you did the swap and what maintenance items (EGR, belts, injectors, etc.) did you do before the transplant?
Was the current rig diesel or gas before you put in the 2LT II?
How many miles did the original engine have when you replaced it?
What transmission does it have?
Is this the original trans or was it put in with the new engine?
What mpg are you getting with this set-up?
If I bought this I would be bringing it to Steamboat Springs, CO. is the clutch too far gone for that drive and I would need to trailer it? Or, do you think it could climb to 6,700 feet and I could put a new clutch in here?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am definitely interested.
Cheers, Peter

*The engine was swapped in by the previous owner. I have, however, become pretty damn knowledgeable on these rigs, and this one in particular, over the last several years. The engine was from a donor vehicle - an imported half cut. I was told by the previous owner that the engine had under 100 000 miles on it. He put another 12k on it, and I've put another 30k, maybe 40k, would have to check. So total it should have under 140k-ish. Just getting warmed up!

*Before swapping it in the PO did the timing belt, water pump, belts, etc. I did the injectors a couple months ago. Also the PO had the turbo rebuilt, and IP rebuilt. EGR was removed. I took off and cleaned the intake manifold (yuk). Runs so friking good right now.

*The vehicle was originally a gasser - I had it perfectly legal in Pennsylvania. It is harder to get legal in some areas though, say Clark county, Nevada, where I live right now. One more reason I'm selling it.

*Don't know how many miles the original engine had, but the body now has 305k, and is going strong! Super clean!

*Has the R150 trans - that is, manual, 5 speed, v6 transmission.

*This was the original trans which came with this engine on the halfcut. PO changed the clutch out, but judging by how quick it wore out, he used cheap parts or something. Strange, cause he's done several of these conversions, and knows what he's doing.

*Unsure of MPG since I redid the injectors - should be filling up soon and will let you know.

*I think the clutch would make it, although I wouldn't gaurantee it, and probably wouldn't even recommend it. Trailer maybe, or maybe I could replace the clutch on this end, or something or another.

Also, I made a big ol writeup of everything I could think of about this rig, although I'm constantly thinking of more. Shoot me an email or PM if you want me to send it over.
