It's the flares that brings the shape of the 80s to perfection; without them, the truck look like a freaking (base model) 4Runner. If still in doubt, look at the above side picture again!!! Even on the Limited 4Runners with the flares on, the look is no where as neat as those that are on the LC 80 series IMHO.

My opinion on flares? If you have them, keep them. If you rip one off...(gently) yank the rest off and sell them to those in need -- take some of the funds and line the body, save the rest for other mods...

replacing flares (correctly) is expensive

To me, the flares on the 4Runners look exactly like the 80 series'.

If taking them off would leave no holes, I would have done it long ago.

Only weenies remove them............. And they do so because they ripped one off on a rock and they are too damn cheap to fix it so they take the rest of the flares off and claim that they like them better that way any way but the truth is that they are such tight-wads and they have no business owning one anyway and they are just trying to act cool so that all their friends will still like them and think that they have more money than they really have in spite of the fact that they are saving up enough money to buy a new PCV valve for 3 bucks......

I don't want to answer for Dan but me thinks he is just keeping it real. Personally, the flares is one (of the many) thing that makes my LC attractive.

I have a wench planed to be mounted in the factory bumper.

I guess if you didn't pay attention you wouldn't notice but I constantly have to input steering to keep the wagon tracking straight.

I guess you guys do things differently over there, I prefare to mount my wenches in bed must be my age. :whoops:

Unlike the wide open spaces of many trails alongside your local Starbucks, there are trails in the Sierra Nevada mountains that are a bit on the tight side for 80s (this is not to say that you'll necessarily come out clean when you go over that speed bump)

Wheel trails like the Rubicon enough and you'll lose your flares -- and only your flares if you're lucky. I came out clean a couple times...but it was only a matter of time.

And -- as those of you who really wheel flipoff2: ) know, you don't always have a spotter...them darned flares are just in the way sometimes.

I'm glad to be rid of them...but that doesn't mean that I'll be yanking them off the 's rig any time soon.

The lift is looking good. Cruiser looks fugly without the flares.

Flares are one of the major reasons why the Land Cruiser looks big, capable, and bad ass.
