Today I got a phone call from my dad who told me that a family friend offered me a 1984 Mini for free-very cheap. It has 300k on the clock and has "noisy axles" according to the owner. How much $ should I be prepared to spend to make this thing a worthy driving vehicle?

I have my 80 and wouldn't plan on getting rid of it. Should I take the Mini and do what it takes to make it roadworthy?

Take it and drive the snot out of it. The big problem with them is the frame rails behind the fuel tank. If the frame is solid, then you're good to go. With that many miles you may have a whupped timing chain. Replace the adjuster sliders at the same time. If that's already been done, then it's an indestructable truck. Stop putting junk in the back of the 80 and enjoy having a beater pickup for hauling things. Can you tell I miss my 83? I building a T100, but it's not the same.

If you don't want it I guess I will take it off your hands. Don't worry about it you can thank me later!

Great truck if the frame is good!
:D I had to pay $500 for mine

Haven't heard anything since the initial offer...
