Well, the FJ40 has sat for awhile while I've been recovering from my ruptured brain aneurysm... What a ride.
With all that, I just picked up a 1983 Toyota Pickup from Homer Alaska.
Had no clue what I as getting ready to pick up for the price other than it was a 'small Toyota pickup' for 100 bucks.
I loaded up my trailer headed down to Homer Alaska, a few hours drive away from my location. To my surprise when I arrived, I found this ol' girl waiting.
The seller told me it ran and drove just fine, but due to the rust on the bed they've parked it for the last few years.
I tried to hide my excitement, as I loaded it up. I paid the man his asking price and inquired on a title he said he could give me a title tomorrow. Which was perfect because I was coming back down to pick my wife up a 2005 4Runner.
I got back home, and with a fresh battery a few quarts of 15-40w, and a splash of gas in the carburetor. Started right up -within two cranks- drove off the trailer and backed it into its location.
I've already found a bed for it, tapped the entire frame with a ballpin hammer and it looks and seems solid. I'll do a frame off restoration, but since it's complete it will be a very quick process. I'm thrilled!
The gentleman told me he nicknamed it "Stronghorse" I think that nickname will stick.
