New at this forum and posting pictures. On the steering column expanded view it shows the dust cover which is one of the pictures and there is an o-ring but mine is gone. Does the o-ring go over the groove pointed by the pencil holding the boot tight on the shaft or does it serve another purpose. Found a vendor with the boot but no o-ring yet could possible get one out of a kit and use? Thanks in advance.

I redid mine fairly recently. The boot is held in the bell with a lock ring and there is an o ring that fits over the end of the boot; it's not just rubber IIRC, I think its an actual spring.

Actually it is just an o ring. I think all the parts are still available; I bought them through toyotapartsdeal.com

Thanks. The lady at SOR had a book and said it went over like you said. I think I found everything to put bit back now except the gasket on the firewall. Iill just use the black sticky stuff that goes everywhere except where you need it. My cork gasket isnt completely destroyed too. Thanks again.

Yes where I found them as well.

I even made my own firewall grommets out of neoprene and vulcanizing glue, cuz I figured spending $60 on something id have to cut to get over the harness seemed crazy.

Yes I will need to do that one of these days. All my grommets are getting dry rot.
