So as i've basically stripped just about everything out of the carcass of my parts 80 I got to thinking about what to do with the rest. Originall i thought that i'd just throw all the body away except for the doors and fenders (which i'm keeping) and then just tuck the frame away for someone who needs one. Now i'm thinking a customer trailer should be made out of it.

Along the lines of this range rover one I saw on expo
One of a Kind RRC Trailer

What do you guys think. shouldn't be too hard. I think eventually I might trade out the frame for something lighter as well as the axles but it would be a cool, fairly cheap project for the time being.

I had talked to Jerry about this a tiny bit last year and he seems to think it is very doable.

I still like the idea. I like having the half doors for access if one were to put a hard top and/or RRT. There would be plenty of room underneath for a water tank, store sand ladders, canopy, etc.

One could keep the rear end semi-intact for use of spares, but I'd just go with a trailer axle to keep weight down.

Time to start taking some measurements to see what is necessary before I come over with the plasma cutter...

I like the idea, and it has COOL factor, i would just build a frame and set the chopped rear section of the 80 on it, as I think the 80 frame would bring unneeded weight to the trailer. But it really depends on what you are going to haul in it. having a trailer with an 80 axle would provide you some extra parts. you could even fab up an alternator and attach it to the 3rd member so it could charge the battey mounted in the trailer.
