My 80 series to do wrenching list has grown quite a bit. Now that the Cruiser is at 120k I really need to get some things done. Plus a New Year's resolution is to reduce the procrastination factor. :o So anyone up for some wrenching time on our rigs? We can use my garage (Reston) or yours.

Here's my to do list:

Replace valve cover gasket, PCV hoses
Tune up (Plugs, distributor, wires, filters etc)
Starter contacts
PHH, coolant change
Front passenger window doesn't work. Replace window motor?
Passenger power seat doesn't go back. I think it's the white plastic gear.
Rear locker is not engaging (front works fine).
AC doesn't blow as cold as it used to in the summer. Obviously I can't complain right now. :grinpimp:

I don't expect to complete all of this in one day of course. But if anyone has done this or needs to do any of the same (or different), let's help each other out. :wrench: I'm not very experienced but eager to learn. Plus having someone with you helps the confidence factor. I've got parts in hand for the tune-up and starter contacts so I'm ready whenever. All are welcome.

Why do you think you need starter contacts?

Before you replace the window motor, run a jumper from the ground - on the battery to the motor on the door. This will tell you if you have a bad ground. Also hot wire the motor to see if you have a bad switch.

Looks like a good list of things to do. When are you planning to start?

Doing the starter contacts as PM. Thanks for the troubleshooting tip!

Hoping to do this on a weekend sometime this month. Just trying to find some people that are interested and coordinate. Let me know if you're interested.

I have a 96 80. I don't really have any of these issues. But I would be willing to lead a hand but I don't have any free weekend time until Feb.

Hey neighbor, thanks for the offer. Let me know what weekend you're free and we can set something up. Anyone else interested?

I'm pretty handy with electronics troubleshooting, if your in Reston, roll by one day I'll poke around at it. I'm in Great Falls down Springvale so your not far. Sounds like you might have some bad grounds. My old D90 went swimming in the ocean at some point prior to me owning it and I got a lifetime of electrical repair practice with just one vehicle...

A Land Rover with electrical problems? Perish the thought! ;):D

There really not that bad until they put computers on them, so to put a finer point on that, "A Rover with a computerized electronic engine management system and fool infection? FAIL"
