i like the idea of the center console. my e brake is out of adjustment and i don't use it anyway:hillbilly:

5 BHP at the wheels, instantly!!

Style points can add 5 BHP at the wheels. Seriously. So can the Tornado air-inlet part. :hillbilly:

This version is all gravity powered, no screws to mess up the easily seen transmission hump. Plus it can be taken off and moved easily, another one can be added for double the pleasure, or if you are on a solo run to work at 5AM, do like NLXTACY and put one or two on the center console for "The best part of waking up...". (Try getting that jungle out of yer head, now!)

INCIDENT REPORT!!!! INCIDENT REPORT!!!!

During this wild wheeling incident yesterday:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/277095-hungry-valley-trip-things-i-learned.html

I am sorry to report that during the malay, ONE of the cupholders failed when gravity was not at optimal levels. Said cupholder was not "weighted" down with frosty beverage. After the hard landing, one of the cupholders fell off its location. The one WITH the frosty beverage stayed in place :flipoff2:

Groucho,
My power-of-attorney(mom) said I got them yesterday
Thanks

Thanks for letting me know on getting them in!! They were a big hit at Cruise Moab, so when you get back I am guessing you will find they work great.

Landtank, thanks for the update!! We just got in from Cruise Moab all week, I had the center console one, and three tranny hump ones (one on the center console as NLXTACY found works) and it was awesome to have them all available! Carried an extra (McDonalds goof up) full coke cup all through Hell's Revenge on Friday and with the exception of a spill from the straw hole on the top during tipover challenge toward the end, they worked without a hitch!!

Had some feedback from others who purchased at CM say the same thing!! Very pleased that the tranny cupholder works so well.

Well hate to say it but found one potential problem on an otherwise perfect solution. I now have pencil thin lines grooved into the top and bottom of the center console where the cup holders rest against it. They are noticeable now but its still new. Worried it will only get worse. So now I am thinking about what to put on along the edges of the cup holders so that they wont mark up the console. Thoughts? I can take pictures if it helps?

maybe some of that handle dip stuff. You know the plastic goop you can dip your pliers into and then let it dry for a formed grip.

I don't know if it comes in colors but it might.

I think I might have a solution. I will try it this afternoon.

3M Squeak Reduction Tape #5430. 1/2" wide.

We use it at work. I will try some this afternoon on my cupholders. It is a semi-transparent tape.

Yeah Plasti-Dip. This would work perfect for the bottom but adding it to the top tabs would make the holders not sit right. The tape Goucho has may work too. I'll wait to hear.

BTW here is the marking. Originally I suspected it was the finish of the holders rubbing off. :meh:

Non-destructive testing progress...

After a couple of tests with two sample parts, I am unconvinced that any remedy will be 100% effective at eliminating the witness marks caused by sliding the cupholder along the edge of the transmission hump. I reached this conclusion because 1)I did not have a mark-less transmission hump to start with, and 2)even considering that the anti-squeak tape made a significant improvement, there are still signs that over time the part may wear on the plastic transmission hump.

While I do not want to down-play the importance of minimizing this affect caused by the rubbing of the cupholder on the transmission hump, it may not play as vital a functional role as the primary purpose will for most users. It may be an acceptable trade-off until a suitable preventative solution can be found.

Recall? A cupholder built by my company scratches a transmission hump. The cup still does not spill. The car crashes and burns with everyone trapped inside. Now, should we initiate a recall? Take the number of cupholders in the field, A, multiply by the probable rate of failure, B, multiply by the average out-of-court settlement, C. A times B times C equals X. If X is less than the cost of a recall, we don't do one. :flipoff2:

Many kudos to GROUCHO for trying to find a solution to the "witness" marks. I came home to find a letter, WITH DOUBLE POSTAGE!!! Inside the envelope was an endearing letter expression shame and servitude and...ok no he sent off some of those 3M strips he mentioned along with DETAILED handling and mounting instructions.

I seriously didn't expect it but its nice to have. A perfect product is getter perfect...er.

Yeah I noticed that on mine but I really dont care. Im not a perfectionist about the interior and between the wear and tear already present and these scratches.......it adds patina. Makes the big tuff Cruiser look like it's been somewhere.

But I know some of yall still have nice interiors so I understand yall not liking them.
