I am planning to install LC 80 series OEM rims on my 74. Any issues on the brakes touching the rims? Will it require spacers?Pictures will be appreciated....Thanks!

Have you got the rims yet?
Do you know the size?
I'm assuming 16x8 but what offset?

Seriously!!! I've been researching this for a while. I went to the local tyre shop yesterday and had a bit of a chat. We came
to the conclusion that a 16x8 rim in a negative 34 offset was the best fit for a 74 Landcruiser.

I have negative 24 offset at the moment and the rim is a bit close to the tie rod ends. neg 34 will give 10mm more clearance
between the rim and tie rod.

Anyway I'd be really interested to see how it works out. Keep us informed and post pics.

Cheers

URMM what year 80 series are the rims comming off and are the a Aus OEM or US oem rim etc?

I dont have the rims yet and yes its 16 x 8.

I can't get much info from the seller yet, but would ask more regarding your tips....I ask him whats the offset? What offset?

I am presently using the crosstype oem LC rims with 1/2 " spacers. The lug nut entry is already very short which I feel unsafe.

I will keep you informed if I get this deal.

Thanks.

The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel. Google wheel offset
and you'll find heaps of info. You'll also find out how to measure the offset but it could be stamped on the rim too.

Landcruiser offset for the 74 and a lot of other models is negative 24, give or take 1 or 2 mm. The more negative the offset
the more the wheels stick out past the body. I have neg 24 but want to widen the wheel track and get the wheels out from
the tie rod ends. I am getting some steel rims made up with neg 34 (maybe a lettle bit more if it can be done) to solve my
problems. Ideally for me I want my wheels to be as close to the flares as I can get them without sticking out past them. It
is illegal here to have them sticking out past the flare. Nearly got a canary the other day (yellow unroadworthy sticker) for this
as I had wheel spacers on and the wheels stuck out about an inch past the flare:whoops:

What country are the rims from mate>?

Like what I told you earlier, the seller is not aware of this things...like offsets etc...and where he got it.

LC 80's coming to the Philippines are commonly from Japan which are being converted to LHD, from Dubai and we have some local one's too.

What will be the offset if these are from Japan or Dubai?

l don't know the offset in mm,but here in USA and canada and the JDM 80 series, the rear spacing of the 74 series wheels are 3.5" and the 80 series wheels has 4.5" rear spacing, they will not fit the earlier trucks(60,70,40,42,74 series) unless you use a 1" spacer.

Flatfender, how about a picture?

the owner knowing nothing about them is okay but what we were needing to know is what country your in to get a idea of what type of model 80series you would get or what country are the wheels comming from
what i should have asked 2 is are they steel or alloy?
but now i presume your in the Philippines

BEST thing, put up a pic

Sorry for the very late reply guys. I didnt seal the deal from the first seller, but I got a second deal which is still in progress (and is more expensive!!). He said the rims are 16X8 with an offset of +10 and here is a pix:

Yes Clint, Im from the Philippines.

TIA again!

Sorry mate but I'm sure cruiser offset is - 24. Can you try out those rims on your 74 before you buy them? Those rims your looking
at look similar to mine:

I would still try before u buy. That offset doesn't sound right for a cruiser. Better to be safe than sorry.

If those are OEM, they are likely zero offset and will require the use of a spacer to use on your BJ74. Have him measure the backspacing. If they measure ~4.5", they have a zero offset.

Since you are from the Philippines, check out :: 4x4 Philippines ::, if you haven't already.

Using 1.5" bolt on spacers.

I've run 16x7" steelies, with 4" BS no problems. Not tried the FJZ wheels without spacers, so I can not confirm.

I was able to tried it on, but its touching the the tierods, will need spacers and replace the lugs...Im dropping the idea.
