80 Series Head gasket and block decking (2 Viewers)

We had this 96 80 series come in just before the holidays with a blown head gasket. Got the head pulled off and found some deep pitting around the number one cylinder fire ring. And a simple head gasket turned in to pulling the block and stripping it to send to the machine shop for decking. Everything inside looked great so it just got cleaned up and reassembled.

Went ahead and cleaned and flow checked the injectors while they were out. And we got everything back from the machine shop.

And next up came putting the head together.

And then everything else had to go back on!

We decided to make dropping it back in easier and popped the transmission the rest of the way out so we could mate them and wire them on the floor.

Finally today we fired it up for the first time. It ran smooth with good oil pressure.

Yeah, they weren't leaking yet but were a bit crusty. Figured I may as well do them while they were accessible.

How dirty were the injectors? Was there a drastic change in flow?

The injectors weren't bad off to begin with. It's hard to judge before and after on my rig beyond if they're all even. I need to find a more temperature stable fluid. The viscosity on the stuff I'm using changes enough with temperature that the volumes swing wildly with temp changes. I'll have to see if i can find the before pictures. They were on my old phone.
