Hello!

Just got myself a 80 series 1hdt 1992.
After looking around for a while, this one came up. Owner said it had a blown headgasket, as I knew I was getting into a bit wrenching getting myself this old dream car. I thought I need to know how to change the headgasket to be worthy owning a 80.

I’ll try to update while I’m going threw my motor overhaul.

I started pulling the head off, did not take long before my first problem.
Exhaust outage:

Pulled it and worked my way to pull of the head, and there it came. The reason I’m pulling the engine out for an bigger overhaul.

Yesterday before leaving for Easter Holliday with the kids I got this far

The engine bay looks pretty clean, as does the rest of the truck from the photos. Love the red Toyota emblem on the front? Is that OEM?

Looking forward to following along with your progress.

I’m going to steam the enginebay when removing the engine now, so it will be clean, now it’s oil all over after a blow out from the oil checker 👍

Today I got the aircon to the side, I hope I can leav it there and don’t need to regass it

Now I’m going to loose all the bolts from gearbox to the engine. Never done this before so I’ll hope I’m not in for to many surprises

Cell phone pics of each step and some ziplocks with a sharpie to mark your bags will save you lots of headaches on the re-assembly. I did that with my Audi RS6 when I did a 6 speed swap (that started as a turbo rebuild)...18 months after pulling apart (mainly waiting for parts!), the pics and baggies saved me hours plus my sanity to know where they came from.

Looks like a solid rig and should have lots of fun when you have the heart resurected back to life!

Have not done much lately, my garage needed a clean an some more table space, so the weekend have just been cleaning and doing chores around the house.

Started picking the top ready for cnc, and recived some parts for partsouq, and wow that’s fast shipping, from Japan to Norway in just 4 business days .

Did also a lot of research to fint pistons mrk2. Found some at ayama, but that’s not the same shipping speed.

Turns out it’s at least 2 pistons that’s gone 1 and 3.

Adding some photos of the garage witch is half decent clean, and way to small for the project 😅

Okay so i did try to clean the valves, was not good enough so i got new ones, got the seats fixed, leveld the head.
now the engine was sent of to "hooning" - dont know the english woord for it.
and all of the remaining gaskets for the crankshaft and connection rod are here.

now the ponly issue is pistons, i did order a set of "131011702002" but i dont actually think they will get shipped - waiting for the Stock check.
so i did also order a set for "131011704002" + injector seats in case the older ones dont show up.

hopfylly i will get a engine that lasts for a long time now :)

The newer ones are better for big power 😜

Doing well for someone who hasn’t done this before! I like your garage setup, nice and clean.
