I'm getting ready to 3D scan some areas on my HDJ81. Mainly for a rear bumper, aux tank, and some interior stuff.

If you want anything specific scanned let me know.

Is your car an automatic LHD? I´d love to get my hands on a 3d scan of the center console trim piece and the shifter mount plate.

These are the two pieces I´m referring to:

The shifter mount plate doesn´t need to be dissasembled from the car though. I´m designing a custom shifter knob mount for my 8a and these two items 3d scanned would be extremely helpful...

Thanks!

Here's how the scanning is coming together so far.
Takes a while to get a high quality scan with all the features I want in it.

I have a RHD Auto but I could still scan it. Unless someone has one in the SoCal area I can scan.

Scanning it today, then going to make some drawer slides!
Oh, nevermind. I need the LHD to adapt a BMW shifter, and the RHD version has a different geometry. Thanks for the 3D scanning work though, having access to 3D scans of the cruisers certainly makes designing parts in CAD orders of magnitude easier.

Looks like you're already doing the area, but the rear frame rails and cross member would be great for anyone to design and fab up a rear bumper!
Yeah I have the rear area covered as well as underneath.

I'm going to be designing a rear bumper w/ hitch receiver that works with a 15-20gal Aux tank.

Scanning large flat areas is a little rough, it does a lot better when it has complex geometry. Going to be doing the interior today.

@Dmouse Are you still scanning parts? I could use a scan of the area ahead of the shifter and under the dash where that useless cup holder is. I'm needing to desing a new gauge cluster for that area. Also if you're still having trouble scanning flat areas, they tracer dots or this spray AESUB Blue - Matte Disappearing Spray for 3D Scanning - https://shop3d.ca/products/aesub-blue-matte-and-disappearing-spray-for-3d-scanning. I did the inside of a boat with the spray with our work scanner and it worked wonders. It sprays on white but then evaporates to nothing like magic.
