Just need someone to buy the 40 so I can finish this one up and make a couple of rides this year. Pretty sure my schedule is open for the SCC.

I think I may just go with a 2.5" OME Heavy lift ~ $875 or so. I guess I would have to lower the bumpstops, and it wouldn't flex as well as a 4" from Slee or FOR, but at 1/3 the price it looks good to me.

Lookin good Brain, you guys should come to Tenn. a nice summer vacation for your son and wife. :steer::princess::bounce:

I second the motion :)

so now all you have left to do is make it happ-in Captain:clap:

I'd love to make it to GSMTR one year but it's not in the cards this time. My parents' 50th anniversary is June 4th so there is a family vacation planned right around the same time.

Looks good Brian, talk about stuffing them :D If I had to do my 80 again I would have went with the FOR from the start. I already had the 2 1/2 OME on it when I bought it but it had the stink bug pretty bad with the 850/864 combo. I yield about 5 inches of lift with the 864 heavies so I swapped in new 850J's last year with 2 inch metaltech spacers up front to try to level it out. Rides like a brick $hit house with the heavies and weight is never an issue. No issues on the trails either though I had to invest in a front DC shaft, rear adjustable control arms for drive line vibrations and will need adjustable panards to keep the axles in line I just have the rear now. When you cross the 3 - 4 in threshold in the 80 it can get costly :meh: live and learn.

Larry, when I took yours for a spin it rode much smoother over bumps than my FJCruiser did with the SAW suspension. I was surprised when you told me you had the heavy springs.

On one hand, from my previous experience with the FJC, I somewhat regretted not going to the 6" lift from the start, so going with a FOR or Slee 4" now would probably be the smart thing to do. (I think Slee 6" would be overkill for me.) On the other hand, I'm trying to stick with a budget (lol) and get everything I need in one shot.

I hear what you are saying though...if I go with OME 2.5" with bumpstops at the start and find that it won't work offroad, then I am resigned to just buying the FOR or Slee kits.

I'll keep thinking about it, thanks for the input.

IMHO
do it once and be done with it . in the long run it is the cheapest way to go.

Duly noted...

Go with the 4'' and you will be:)

My shocks are mounted to the axles via a small threaded plate. Well the other day while driving down very bumpy roads, the ram on the shock came unthreaded. I disregarded it because my other front shock was still attached. While driving down the Pan American Hi-way the other one came loose as well. Picture a low rider with the front end coming off the ground. You could push down on the front bumper with one hand and the truck would travel at least 24 inches up and down. I should have taken a video, too funny.

You mentioned 6 inch springs would be overkill and I certainly agree. Mine are like a pogo sticks.:hillbilly:

I emailed Iron Man Australia yesterday to see about their 5 degree caster plates and if I could order them. They emailed me back and said the distributor that was mentioned in the last Toyota Owner issue is now open for business in the US

Their website Camel 4x4 and Outdoor for 4x4 Parts and Accessories

I ordered their caster plates so I can fix my driver side slider its been annoying me for 6months. I had to move the front mount on the slider to accomodate the 5 inch drop plates and it causes it to flop around when you hit a pot hole, which is often here and also while on the trail. I just hope after the new plates it will drive and handle as well as it does now on the road.

It'll save me from having to rig up that slider now Paul :D

Brian's 80 looking sweet and every bit as tall on some fresh springs :) Good to see you bud

Yep, spotted that beast fare out today, looking good Brian. So what you have next on the chopping block?

Good seeing you too, man

I think sliders will be next.

Got some new spray armor put on. Jon's friend Brad in New Iberia was 1/2 the price they wanted locally. It filled in my tree bruises and cleaned up my crooked lines :whoops: somethings are best left to the pro's. Will finish the sliders this weekend hopefully.
