Description: This is a destination we've gone to before, however this will be a different rout . We plan on getting to the springs via Leviathan Mine Road. This will be a navigational challenge but the trail/dirt road should be easy trail ride.

Might have to see if we can make this one. To camp or not to camp, that is the question...

Sounds like fun but I've got other commitments this weekend :frown:. Have fun everyone!

I'm out!!
That's the day of my wife's competition that she's been training for.

Look forward to hearing about it. It's been a looooong time since I've been on that trail.

How was the new route in??

Not as interesting as the route we took out.;)

The route in was pretty much high clearance 2WD road.

Camping by the river was very relaxing we just hung out drinking a few beers and shooting the $hit all afternoon. The weather was perfect just enough wind to keep the bugs away, not to hot, not to cold. We had a great dinner. The only down side for me was my sleeping bag was just way to warm for the temps.

Coming out this morning Shawn and I took some sketchy little rancher roads that went up and over a couple of ridges then followed a creek back to the main Leviathan Mine Road. Nothing was real technical, it was just a lot of cobble roads, and some creek crossings. Some sections reminded me of High Rock canyon, some parts were like the creek part of Bronco Canyon, a lot of it was driving on bowling ball size rocks half buried in dirt.

It was a nice day out. Unfortunately, our dog got sick. Fortunately, the mess was contained by the husky cargo liners (these have saved us a few times)... and the river was nearby to wash the dog and the liner.

I did notice that with the winch up front, I have to be a bit more careful with the nose dive and probably a bit less clearance up front. Time to order a coil-over kit I guess. :-)

Dan, did you take the right at the ditch crossing on the way out?

No we took some back roads.

Neat route in, but man is it rough. Not hard, easily done in a stock 4x4, but as Rusty said, the bowling ball sized rocks that are partially exposed meant you were forced into that no mans land of just getting over them. No need for low-range, you just had to poke along.

On a sad note, there was a lot of trash on the road. Just too close to town, too well known and too easy to get to the springs.
