Firewood

It would be nice if everybody brought a bundle of fire wood up. Pretty slim pickins around the campground by this time of year I imagine and I don't want to haul another load of dead fall stuff in my Cruiser, it just makes to big a mess.

Hey Spresso, if you have your truck back why don't you come up and join us Friday. Wentworth springs ain't your typical FS campground. Your truck would easily make it into Ellis Creek and back.

Will do on the firewood--I can set it in my brothers lap:lol:. 40s have no room.

Ya, come roll with us. And the rest of you guys too.

this sucks, with the Union stuff at work I had to trade some days, doesn't look like I will be able to go this weekend.... have fun take some pix..:beer:

He has the rig back, but it is far from driveable. It's sitting on jackstands, in his garage, with the front suspension torn out for new upper control arms.:D

I wonder if he could get the Prius into WS?

What about you guys? Will you be around?

I would love to, but I won't be getting back to town until late on Friday and Darcie is on call all weekend, so we won't be going anywhere this weekend.

Have fun, a buddy ran the trail last weekend and they hit a few traffic jams, but said camping was no problem (5 rigs in his group) at the lake. He did say Cadillac Hill was rough this year.

If I do any more work to this truck I'm going to be in Keith's league :D

Sheesh!

The truck is packed except for the ice chest, just need to load that and strap it all down in the AM.:bounce2::bounce::clap::D:grinpimp:

Thought I was ready until greasing up the pig and saw that my t-case mount/crawl box mount bolts had been torn out:crybaby:. So spent a couple of hours fixing that. Fordyce without a spotter and at night-death on the rig.
But should be ready to leave by 1:00pm.:bounce:

I SOOOOOO WISH I were wheeling with you guyz this run. I was really shooting to be able to run the Rubicon this year in the 40 this year.
Have a BLAST and be safe!

Ill be running with you guyz again soon!

Back Home, I think we all made it safe and sound, Mark was driving with a welded tie rod end last time I saw him:eek:, Shawn was driving on borrowed time with a sketchy charging system, and I was, well basically okay except for s little shimmy at the speed that all traffic wants to move around Lake Tahoe.
Hope everyone else made it home safe and sound.

BTW Lil Rusty drove my truck most of the time and kicked ass on the trail, a few more trips and he will be nailing it every time.

Was slaving away in the garage feeling somewhat jealous, thinking about you guys. It was motivating. So you still have the front end issue going on?

Made it home without the tow truck but kept the speed to under forty. Got everything broken down and Shawns weld took about 5 solid hits with a pickle fork to free it so we were safe-- I think.:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Great time! As always you guys are great hosts. Sorry for the break. Actually had a premonition friday and was at Napa buying a new rod end, but alais, bought the wrong size:mad:.

Well got every thing broke down an cleaned up the steering arm is ok as the weld just chipped or filed off. Alot of it came out when I popped it with the p. fork. And off to napa to buy some new rod ends. Should be rolling for the next time--fordyce? deer valley? Bronco? Kieth?:hhmm:

Edit--spoke to soon. Can't get the dam rod ends out of the drag link. Ideas?

Mark,
Where'd the tre break???
Did you get it outta the tie rod yet?
Is it just froze in at the threads? Those can be a bear for sure especially if they were hard threading in. Had that experience on the blotch rig years ago. Might wanna have the threads re tapped when you get it out. Marlin did mine this time around when I boogered the threads welding the bung in.
Hope to get running soon. I just need time now.

Just at that one speed that everyone wanted to drive up at the lake, pretty stable the rest of the time

Heat it up with a torch.

Just after the turn off to Barker Pass IIRC, another few miles and he would have been on black top.

Who has a torch? :)

Another case of to fast and not paying attention. I think my brother was telling a rude story about farts, penis size or "thats what she said":o. The rock that got me was about the size of a laser printer. Stupid me:doh: Now I pay in time and$$

Good to hear you made it home ok on that sloppy weld. Oh, and no that wasn't safe if that weld broke that easy. Dan's right when he said I made it home on borrowed time. When I pulled into the garage my volt meter showed 11.6 volts after I shut the engine off. Now I have to figure out if I've got a bad battery or a charging problem.
