I regretted selling that blue one when the guy came back to take it home the day after he left a deposit; but we made a deal and shook on it. :slap: I bought the current LX all of 9 days before I drove it across the country last year :steer:; at least I didnt have to spend an entire day in the dealership on the way out like I did for HIH3 :hillbilly:

Crazy seeing three trucks with stock bumpers. Seems like all the Hundys now are decked out. Lots of progress over the years.
I'll still be rocking my stock bumpers. They're just a little more scraped up than they were in 2013.

Whoa! Lots of changes since those days for a few trucks in that pic.

A rainy, muddy and crowded lot off of Hwy 550 provided some great memories. HIH3 was one of my favorite.

We truly appreciate those of you that have attended this event multiple times, braved the weather, offered to help, and generally made this event what it is today. HIH3 was essentially what started this off as a true multi-vehicle, annual event. I think we had 30 trucks that year. A handful of you have returned every year since and it's been awesome. I know that I could leave my house today and drive in any direction and there would be HIH friends across the country offering up a home-cooked meal, a place to say, a hand in whatever I needed...... lifelong friends are made in such ways. It all started because we drive the same vehicle and enjoy spending time together in a beautiful area.

The HIH friendships I've made go far beyond a 100 series. The love and support I received from our group while I was in the hospital was overwhelming. I was psyched for HIH6 and thrilled to be able to walk up to so many friends, but I was still very limited from my injury. I'm beyond thrilled for HIH7. I feel good about this year. Our location is awesome, Silverton loves having us, the 100 is as popular as ever and our group becomes stronger and closer each year.

I remember there being so much water under my tent that it felt like we were laying on a waterbed. That trip definitely put our REI tent to the test. And yet we made it back only 2 years later. Great times. Great friends. Great memories.

My favorite pic I took at HIH6.

Camping logistics question:
The event is officially Wed - Sun. Are we required to vacate the property by Sunday afternoon or can we stay Sunday night and leave Monday morning?

You can stay until Monday morning. We're hiring a cleaning crew to come in and clean the lodge, so we'll probably need people to stay out of there by 9am.

We will not be able to camp at Kendall on Tuesday night (before the event) though. Our permit does not allow us to set anything up until Wednesday. Wednesday will be a laid back day with some camp stuff and a few trails in the afternoon.

Maybe a night run?
@bluecruiser and I have done a secret night run every year for the last 5 years. It's awesome.

Sounds like fun! any suggestions on where to stay Tuesday night?

Don't know what your plan is (camp, hotel, etc) but I would suggest staying down in Durango. Not quite as secluded and mountainous as Silverton but a ton of good restaurants, things to see and do (DSNGR anyone?), and really allows you to get the full experience of southwestern Colorado (between there and Silverton). The Balcony Bar and Grill is our favorite place to enjoy the nice summer nights with a drink or two and Steamworks and Carvers are always two great restaurant options.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was considering an airBNB in Durango. My girlfriend and I will have to try one of the restaurants.

Mancos is kind of a cool little town too but not nearly as much to see and do as Durango. Ever been to Mesa Verde? It's worth a visit and not too far from Silverton. I've stayed in their campground and it's decent. Of course it's going to be during peak season so you might want to see if you can reserve a space or get a room in their lodge. Or just stay in Mancos or Cortez and then drive up the hill to visit the sites.

Awesome! Thanks for all the suggestions! It sounds like I need a month to explore this area!

Ironton Park?
Pre-HIH7, Old school HIH style camping?

I was glad I had my super expo :hillbilly: setup during that storm. The air mattress was a bad choice though :slap:
