I've lived in Australia for four long years now, and I still don't care for the 70 series. They do drive nicely and they are comfortable and quieter...but so is my Wife's Camry wagon. I thought I would buy a 70 series when I moved here, but they just don't do it for me. I say keep that beautiful, classic HJ47 Bear.:steer:

I'll stick with my 40 series, and simply modernize it:). I drive my Father-in-law's HJ79 pickup pretty regularly, and it is always nice to get back into my 40 with its great lines and classic feel.

1tontoy- did you buy that one from Florida off Ebay? I see a few 85s and 86s in the paper around here. I'm happy to help anyone get a 70 series from this end if I can.

Cheers,

Josh

i know the guy i bought my first troopie from, michael reboredo, is bringing them in and selling them. he's brought a lot of rigs over from australia and south africa. mine was'nt what it was advertised to be.......:frown:

so i bought my other troppie and never looked back.

thanks for the offer to help out josh, i'll have to keeo that in mind. ;)

fwiw, the 79 i'm working on right now has the sub-tank.

yeah but I think they didnt' sell troopy's without aux tanks. I'm pretty sure only the cab chassis had the subtank option.

They were an option in all 75 series

I bought the 75 troopy from Mike in Miami off eBay. After doing the math, his price was fair considering what I have seen for sale in AU in terms of price and condition. This one is a one owner and has low KM's. We'll see how it is once it arrives.

Josh, thanks for the offer, I WILL be in touch ;)

Orange, I too have an HJ47 and love it. The 40 series can never be replaced...;)

i was also wondering about the if the troopys had no sub tank did they still get the rear filler door for a subtank answer no if the get no sub tank there rear big door dosnt have the tyre mount and 4 bolts in it either

well, the 79 has been on the road in its current state for a few months now and the owner bill is super happy with it. right now it's back at my shop for a turbo ( turbo glide ) conversion. got it done yesterday, just need to finish the gauge set install and adjust the fuel a little. i'll start a different thread about the turbo work.

as for me, i definetly want a 75 troopie and have started looking a little here and there. just sold one of my rigs so i have sopme pocket money to shop around. if any of you guys down in OZ know of or come across a clean ( no rust; i know, hahaha ) 85 hj75 troopie please let me know. needs to be a diesel and 5spd, would prefer forward facing seats. color does not matter and i can fix any mechanical issues myself.

thanks for all the input and help!!!!!
