Hey everyone.
Recently slapped a turbo on my 79 bj40. It’s a “b” not a “3b”.
Plumbing as follows- supply line directly off the block, return line directly to the side of the oil pan- “5/8” drain hose.
Engine is certainly showing its age, even before the turbo It smoked at startup, but cleared up once warm. Clearly not oil smoke, just classic old diesel smoke on a cold startup.
So my new problem post turbo install- same smoking behaviour on startup, but now I’ve got some new smoke behaviour. Once the truck is warm, I can drive down the road without any obvious smoke until I come to a red light or some traffic. After sitting at a light or in traffic for a bit and accelerate, there is a significant amount of smoke out the tailpipe…stinks like oil…
Looking for input…I already double checked the drain line to ensure it isn’t plugged, and I can’t imagine I have excessive crankcase pressure as the “b” motors have a factory road draft pipe…and from what I can see the blow-by isn’t so bad.
Thoughts?
Cheers eh
