It had .223 cartridges in it going by the writing on it.. it's currently got my drag chain, tree trunk protector, soft shackle, 30m winch xtn, snatch block, snatch strap, about 4 bow shackles, jack mate and 2 arb winch dampeners. all my recovery gear! Before heading out wheeling I unlock it and it makes accessing that stuff when stuck so much easier. Don't even need to open the swing out.

That looks great!!!Rear bar done.. just need to bolt on an Ammo box for recovery gear...
The hi-lift is close on the door and the bolt has a handle on it so I can undo it without tools.. The spare wheel receiver can slid in/out for different width wheels too..
Both swingouts lock open..
Are you allowed to relocate the license plate?
I know some of the rules in Oz are rather strict...

Thanks Pablo! Yeh we can move license plates.. rules are it needs to be visible from 45 deg angle from above and each side.. with it on the back with the spare you wont be able to see it so it's less issues for me with the fuzz if move it.

So I joined a 4wd club( No Limits 4wd Club) to experience a few more of Tasmania's 4wd tracks with those that know them about mid year now the pig is on the road and this is the first chance I've had to go out with most of the folks in the club for a weekend and it was pretty good.. on the way there I took Jefferys Track which I've done before but not on my own.. it is starting to get chewed up a bit and I think I had my shocks still too firm as we got thrown around a bit.
They went out on a night drive and got back at 2am but cos I had the boy I had a welcome early night.
With their late return the night before it was a slow start to saturday where it was decided to go through the "paddocks" to start off with.
The paddocks are just a collection of rutted out tracks across muddy open sections and through forests, the mud is sand/silt based and it doesnt take much to swallow small tyred rigs. People go out there heaps in 37"+ tyres and tear the place up, which is why we struggled so much on 33s and 35" tyres.. a few of the bigger 80serise on 35 treps got stuck and there was some waiting around so after 5-6hrs of this we were all keen to find our way out.. but that wasn't as easy cos even a few hundred meter stretch to the road was in huge ruts. On our way back to camp we stopped in a river and tried to clean up the cars as much as possible.. as both sides and inside were covered with mud..
The pig did really well. .it copped some hard hits falling into ruts on the chassis, rear towbar and my 80mm extended rear bump stops but did really well not to fall apart. The winch got a solid workout too for self recoveries and helping others out.. all in all it was a good day's wheeling and the pig surprised me with its capability... I think it might of surprised others too..

My handbrake was shot after all the mud and i noticed my rear brakes werent working very well either.. Before leaving i tried to put new pads in the rear but the piston on one side was siezed so last night I pulled it all down and rebuilt both calipers with fresh pads, clyinders and rubber seals, then adjusted the handbrake.. The mud was left over after about 1hr and $40 at the car wash with the pressure washer..
Now I have a working handbrake again and can lock up the brakes without much effort..

When washing the roof I found cracks up there again.. both near spots that I had repaired previously... I'll get the roof rack off and try and get it sorted before Christmas... not sure what to do with the big one at the front though..

Hate to say it, but I don’t think the glue was the way to go on that particular repair. May need to pull that panel, clean it, weld it, and be done with it.
Man, and I was just thinking today about how quickly you got that enormous amount of work done on your rig, and now you’re out mud-bogging! You did 4 times the work I’ve done in 1/4 the time!

The worst part is where its been welded across the front.. thats what keeps cracking the most.. I think because it's welded and isnt supported by an edge (if that makes sense) I dunno... I'll have a think and see what I can do.. I might even consider taking it to a panel beaters BUT they might look at whats been done and not want a bar of it.. Like a strip on the inside 2.5cm wide by 1.5 mm thick, or whatever, to tie the front and patch together instead of butt-weld.(?)

Yeh it might need something like that.. I'll get it stripped and see the extent of the damage and go from there.. I had also considered trying to use the panel adhesive there.. its likely got a bit more "give" in it than weld and wont crack as easily maybe?
You're having your fun with it, that's for certain. Sure beats waxing it every Sunday before getting coffee.

It's a lap weld with about 10mm overlap from memory.. I got some supplies from the paint shop this morning and had a chat to one of the old fellas, showing them the photo of the crack. They reckon try some fibreglass filler in that area before a a layer of normal body filler. the fibreglass filler should have more give in it, and also mean the layer or rigid bodyfiller is not as thick.. I'll give that a go and see how long it lasts this time.. These repairs need to be expected and in the scheme of things aren't really too big a deal.. it's accessible and repairable with just a few days of my time/effort..
