Hey every one,

I'm just after a few ideas / photo's of everyone's hayman reese setup's.

I'm looking at building one from scratch because the one that's currently on my bus sits a good 100mm further out than the chassis and there's about a 50mm gap from the bottom of the chassis to the top of the tow bar (I'll get some photo's up tonight when I get home so you know what I mean and what my current rear bar set up is). I've got a 50mm body lift in which will allow my to have the it set up on top of the chassis, but I think it'll be too high up, but below the chassis reduces my departure angle, so I'm trying to decide which way to go. I've also thought about going through the chassis, but I'm not real sure I want to go that way yet.

Any responses will be greatly appreciated
Cheers, Tassie kzj

Hi Tassie

I made my own removable fitting.. One for Nato hook, the other for custom tow bar..
The towbar is goose necked so it is lower..
Here's a rear view..

I blew a hole thru rear crossmember. And the tube for hitch is plated one side and fits in from the back.
So it supports the hole I cut.
I also have some bars to take care of the twist forces.
Will throw some more photo's up late in the week...
Also my rear bumper is 6mm U channel so it reinforces the crossmember, no way it will fail.
Been used for an anchor point in various Winch Challenges....And the truck is still straight...
My first towbar was a fixed one and was below factory bumper... Dragged its bum everywhere...

I'm now thinking I might cut through the chassis, run a 150 x 75 duragal channel across the rear of the chassis with plates coming out similar to my front bar & do a rear quarter chop with tube side bars.

You will notice I have two pins 90 degs to each other....holding the hitch bar in place.
This serves two purposes.. Strength especially for snatch recoveries..using NATO hook.
The most fwd pin is tucked under door / bumper gap and when door is close and locked you cant remove the pin...
No one can steal the hitch....

That looks the business, I think I'll head down the same road you went and cut through the chassis. Now I just need to find some more time and some more steel to use :p
