78 FJ40 clicking when turning in 2wd

I am getting a loud clicking when turning a 78 FJ40 from the right front, at slow speeds. Can this still be a birfield? I have been searching but it sounds like most people report noisey birfields in 4wd only. Thanks in advance!

Yes it could be have you jacked it up and checked for wheel play?

Yes, there is a little movement up and down, but not much.
