My 77 igniter is mounted on the passenger side fender. The condenser wire is connected to the positive side lug of the ceramic resister and then attaches to the coil mounting bracket that mounts it to the fender. There is only a single wire running from the distributor to the ignitor and no condenser mounted to the inside or outside of the distributor. Is the a stock location for the ignition condenser? Is the other location for the condenser mounting it externally to the distributor and connecting it to the lug of the wire leaning the distributor and running to the ignitor? Is the a part number or vender that handles the external condenser for the 77 ignitor?

Thanks
Dave

What is your concern with the setup that you have?
You want it to more original, or you're concerned that it will eat points, or interfere with your neighbours TV?

Just trying to see if the previous owner modified this or if this is the way original equipment came. The 40 ran great the way it was with the condenser connected to the resistor opposed to having it connected to the distributor. I would like to see if I can get a new condenser to refurbish the ignitor.

from 7709 on the distributor doesn't have points, it has an electronic module, so no condenser.

The fiche for the US spec distributor from 7501 to 7709 doesn't show a condenser, but my '76 had one; my '77 does not. The CND spec models all had them.

the CND spec thru 7709 shows the same condenser.

if I remember correctly, these are generic 35(ish) microfarad condensers.

My 40 is a March of 77 build. I am running the 19100 60080 distributor and 89620-00012 ignitor. Is the item highlighted the condenser?

I have the same igniter. No condenser. unfortunately, that part is on a fiche I don't have. My set from '74(ish) contains only the first Engine/Fuel group; the only complete set I have starts in 8008.

These were taken, pre-restoration. I don't have any since it's been fixed.

@Engineer8000 might know what, if any, condenser was originally installed.

The condenser at the distributor protects the points and is not optional. The one at the coil was for noise elimination for the radio.

Russ, do you have the spec on the distributor condensor?
