I can only imagine.... I've done some extended cold weather stuff, but I do like being in FL during the winter...In the middle of a Montana winter, you'd do damn near anything to close up that rear window. And it wouldn't have been beer...probably shots of something stronger.

Hmmm... I'm thinking as difficult as the tanks are to find in decent shape when I get around to RnR on it I may have it done professionally... most of the threads I read on tanks is translated to "do it right" the first time... unsure that's something I want to risk...Por 15 makes a tank sealer![]()
After draining the tank, I pulled the old fuel filter, and it had obvious crud in it.. I poured another gallon of fuel into the tank and nothing came out of the line..Hmmm... Let me see if I can make sense on this... when I originally drained the tank I placed a cloth over the bucket to catch debris, and to check to see if water was there..Welcome to Gas Tank Renu - Gas Tank Renu

I used this company on my M37 tank over ten years ago, no problems that I know of. I also ran all new lines, something I believe you should think about. How does the new filter look since you ran some fuel through it?

The tranny and transfer case go thru all the gears w/o the engine running, but it came w a non-operational clutch... I opened the bleeder valve on the slave, and nothing, after I placed fresh fluid in the master, nothing... so, today I removed the deteriorated flex line at the slave, and out fluid came... I purged the line multiple times, and new master and slave are going to be installed when they get here along w a new flex line and fluid. so yeah... today was a good day... I was worried the hard line had to be replaced....Let me see if I can make sense on this... when I originally drained the tank I placed a cloth over the bucket to catch debris, and to check to see if water was there..
No debris to speak of, and no indication of water 'glob' on the cloth and no indication of water in the bucket.. about 4.5 gallons... flushed another gallon... put another gallon in after reinstalling the plug thinking some would come out of the line by the fuel filter which I had removed... The old filter did have some debris...
Added gas... couldn't get it to stay running... assumed it was a clogged line or at point of entry in the tank.. last night gave it some thought (what else is there to think about?) and developed another approach... so
today I took a length of new fuel line I had, inserted one end into the 5 gal gas can, and attached the other to the filter intake.. each time it started it ran better., longer, until after about 10 minutes I could accelerate, turn it off, turn it right back on. . I let it sit for 30 mins and moved to another task.. came back, fires right up and success... multiple times... SO. Figuring I had some good karma going, I attached the fuel line from the tank back to the in line filter.. cranked it up, and success... let it run for about 10 mins, pushing the accelerator, etc, letting it idle, etc... no problems.... and no debris in the filter... motor sounds good, runs good, all the gauges work, wipers work, fan motor works, horns work..... so right now I'm pretty happy w this piggie....

depends on what the filter shows me as I continue to run her, I may be good... and yes on the ethanol.... Good 411.... thanksThe tranny and transfer case go thru all the gears w/o the engine running, but it came w a non-operational clutch... Classy...I'm pretty jazzed... owner sent a video w it running...sounds good. I'm going to take some time and first clean her up... no lipstick, just see what she looks like and see how to get her down the road.. front windshield took a hit so that's got to be replaced which is a shame because it's got the chrome trim OEM gasket... my thought is the chrome trim gasket is unobtanium plus... it has a brake line leak, which is within my skillset to repair... as is the knuckle rebuild if needed, TRE swap. Midgainc is lined up tom do the hinges... and the rear window is inop... I think she's Sophia Loren, (possible name??) just waiting on the sideline in a bathrobe... and....and...and... lucky to get this and I know it...
grins
Lots of variations for 09/75 to 12/78!Interesting. Here are the part number changes from around 75 to 78. I will try to look under my seat for evidence. It looks like there was a change in the middle of the '77 year model which could have included the seatbelt route (or not?).

I think what you are seeing in Oz is a mechanical crank for the window and a key to unlock the tailgate so it can be opened/lowered (after the window is lowered). There are some in Australia I saw pics of last night while researching... I searched manual tailgate and I think two Aussies had posted pics of theirs... The crank is shown dead above the rear handle, and the electric key insert is above and to the left of the handle as opposed to being below it...
Correct me if I'm wrong, and maybe your trying and I just can't see it.. grins...
but that's what the pics show...??? but wouldnt be the first time I've misinterpreted something..
Awesome! Congratulations!!!Truck delivered!!
Made the Montana-Florida trip unscathed... in about 40 hours... driving hard..
Good news, truck is as complete as I could hope...Floor mats look great... 3 of the four doors have those OEM aluminum scuffs...original TEQ AM radio ...all the gauges work.. horns work.... fired right up.... original Toyota radiator... new water pump by PO...both bumpers (bent but fixable)
Bad news.. that rear window crank is definitely EOL (end of life)_grins... typical front left floor pan and rear floor pan rust areas... but absolutely solid... frame looks great..
obvious short term needs:
Tires
Clutch master and slave with a line flush
Fuel filter
Clean carb
tailgate window will be down the line....
Super happy w it...
If you have the long-body lockouts, I bet they say ASCO on the dial instead of Aisin.A bonus as seen in the pics is it has 5 OEM 15" original grey rims and the hubcaps.. Got the Aisin long locking hubs... PO explained he pulled it out of a field after it had sat for sometime.. so some of this is going to be very much a learning experience...and yes I ask stupid questions... grins
depends on what the filter shows me as I continue to run her, I may be good... and yes on the ethanol.... Good 411.... thanks
I've got a six-pack of fluid film enroute... after I get about 3" of accumulated dust out of the bottom of the doors they're gonna get a good dose, as are the cavities behind the cargo panels... good 411 on that as well... learning..
Awesome! Congratulations!!!
They are asco.If you have the long-body lockouts, I bet they say ASCO on the dial instead of Aisin.
Yep,,, but the items I'm picking direct transfer or w slight mods....Lots of variations for 09/75 to 12/78!
Double checked first thing this afternoon and Sophia cranked immediately, idled and accelerated well in place.. Replacing some coolant hoses, and the thermostat sometime this week..(and the clutch master and slave).. New windshield gasket gets here and getting new front glass for her..They are asco.

OK.. Time for my dumb *** question... Researched here on mud but not hitting the right keys,,Double checked first thing this afternoon and Sophia cranked immediately, idled and accelerated well in place.. Replacing some coolant hoses, and the thermostat sometime this week..(and the clutch master and slave).. New windshield gasket gets here and getting new front glass for her..
Turned the lights, turn signals on after repairing some of the rear wiring which had been cut into for a trailer loom... interestingly one of the tailgate motor wires had been cut as well w a section missing.. I had two old late 70's Toyota looms and thank goodness for color coded wiring and a wiring diagram. Anyway, all lights and turn signals work with the exception of both headlights..?? and the right non-existent turn signal... Maybe bad bulbs... ran out of time to check the wiring diagram or fuse box for fuse possibility...
3/8 drive on the tailgate window works great! But yeah, going back electric hopefully...
