Yeah I'm definitely getting pics up tomorrow evening....Was just drooling to much today to take any pics.... Grins..
I've got some cleaning to do then chasing the mechanics..
The discussions re the manual crank may be all for nil.. I'll snap pics tomorrow. Handle is broken off when it arrived... but a wrench can turn the nut welded to a bolt that inserts into the tailgate and drives the regulator somehow... but the drive in the guts of the tailgate, however it's setup, is end of life.. goes down at best OK, but real slippage and difficult to get it to go up... The glass is lined up well, but however its driven inside is caput... looks like a return to electric... but down the road.. pics tomorrow...

anyone have an extra spare tire assembly crank they'd be willing to sell... no crank, no jack, no jack rods .... but... still very happy..

The clutch pedal goes straight to the floor.. filled the master reservoir, opened and then removed the bleeder valve on the slave....dry.. no fluid getting to the slave at all, so ordering a new master and slave, as well as the flex line.. going to remove and clean the hard line if I can, get it all back...I left the bleeder out and first thing today is going to be checking if any fluid made it's way thru the line.. My thoughts to try and clean the inside myself first, if that fails I'll find out how to best proceed. I removed the floormats, which appear to be tear/abuse free, and am going to wash those today... I had to get to the floors...The original OEM applied insulation material was there, but had separated from what used to be metal..Grins... rust, somewhat anticipated, is obvious, but very livable and/or fixable... got some of the residual rust and dirt out to take a decent look, evaluate priorities.. I'm very much shaping my thoughts on this one... sticking to mechanicals as the priority. clutch hydraulics...clean a bit... I removed the three aluminum door scuffs, which are getting cleaned up...
Sophia cranked up and run continuously, albeit the fuel/carb system is going to need some attention.. hopefully the tank is good but I have my doubts about the innards... the engine sounds good, no smoke, and was pedal responsive... here we go..

A bonus as seen in the pics is it has 5 OEM 15" original grey rims and the hubcaps.. Got the Aisin long locking hubs... PO explained he pulled it out of a field after it had sat for sometime.. so some of this is going to be very much a learning experience...and yes I ask stupid questions... grins

Thank you sir.. needs mechanicals... but looking forward to it...

working on Sophia... still cleaning and will be for a while... took some time to get into the tailgate... no motor... regulator may be fried... looks as if the bolt that enters thru the tailgate is attached somehow to the drive gear but really is more nonfunctional.. spent about 4 hours today trying to salvage via cleaning the regulator gears and I did get the tailgate open...glass will go down with difficulty, but is very difficult to get to go up... where the handle mechanism is inside the tailgate is a huge inactive wasp nest... not sure which came first, broken handle or the huge nest.. and of course rust on the front floorboard... but very salvageable

this is a closeup of what once was a PO solution to an inoperable tailgate glass.. most likely worked well for years but it needs some real attention... not just the handle but the glass operating mechanics ... radiator has the Toyota decal on it... that's cool... driver side patina with one of the OEM rims.... more later...

Get some fluid film put down on that asap.

Do your mechanical and body work first. As someone who's had to work on trucks that are coated in that stuff it's a PITA! Greasy everywhere you touch.

I'm all for preserving the patina, but save yourself the headache of having to clean everything. A few weeks or months aren't going to be the end of it.

Thanks samc2447, I was beginning to think I needed to reshuffle my priorities, and I agree w cruisermatt to get something done with it... right now it's relegated to being parked outside.. that may change here quickly... but ... driving mechanicals have got to remain the priority... once I get it running/driveable she'll get in the garage and get necessary cosmetic attention... no painting this one, patina queen for sure..

On to Sophia's other issues.. The engine is painted a light blue, including the block, head, and valve cover, which indicates to me it's been pulled and rebuilt. I checked the serial number against SOR's identification chart and it's a May 77 motor... So maybe I've gotten lucky w a low mileage rebuilt.... FYI there's a 75 pig not in the pig thread but in the classified section under parting out that the seller has very good prices on.. he's in Washington state...FYI..

today I'm changing the air filter, fuel filter, draining the gas tank to check for condition, adding fresh gas, and seeing what happens... and probably clean a bit...

And yes, the thread on preserving patina by wrongog is very helpful and informative... 38 pages and I'm on page 4.... learning ... which really is what my hobby is all about (and staying out of my bride's hair)... thanks cruisermatt.. and Nolan

I actually have a can of Fluid Film at the shop... changed out the totally boogered drivers window regulator w a spare I had repaired some time ago...while in there I got out about 2 pounds of montana dust...very different from Fl sand (grins) .. and then just soaked the bottom seam with the FF, following wrongog's thread...windows and doors are all good, with the exception of the front door hinges but I'm getting four rebuilt so that'll be done...

never got to the fuel tank, that'll be Friday.. my thought is, and tell me if I'm wrong or there is a better direction, drain the fuel tank and see what comes out.. change the fuel filter... replace the tank plug after ensuring tank is debris free and pour in some fresh gas.... crank it up? that's the current thought... any suggestions? I got it running the other day.. so it's getting fuel... but .... I'm thinking i need to see what comes out of the tank,,,

Sounds like a good plan and check the new filter for crap buildup.
Gas tank drain accomplished.. looks like motor oil.. once drained flushed two gallons of fresh gas... reinstalled the plug.. I'm going to pull the gas filter tomorrow, place another gallon of fresh gas in the tank, let it run out prior to reinstalling the new filter..
Question: If I'm not driving the truck, just cranking and letting it run, can I get by for now not having the tank cleaned?

Also, figured out the tailgate crank/mechanism.. I've got pics...but dinner is on the table .. pics in a bit..
