77 FJ40 Rust Free- Low Miles

This truck came to Kentucky from Nevada about 9 years ago. It has about 50% original paint, olive green, and just over 32,000 miles. It is a Calif emissions truck. The 2F was desmogged with a header when I bought it. Since I have owned it, I have installed 2 1/2 in Hell Creek lift and new BFG 33s on new Toyota stock rims and new hub caps.. I sent carb to Jim C for rebuild and installed new radiator and exhaust. I repainted the hood and fenders because they were badly faded from the desert sun. I repainted the quarters because they both had large holes cut for CB antennas. The doors, top sides, ambi doors and 90% of the interior is original paint. It has a Warn 8274 and Tuffy box. Seats and dash pad are like new. The truck is truly rust free except for a small, less than dime size spot starting in the rear sill. The frame is as clean as the top side. Runs and drives perfect. Since I have owned the truck ( about 7 years) it has been used only for local errands. Decided to go another direction with my car disease. I am about 30 minutes out of Louisville KY. Can send many more pictures upon request. Price is $13,000. 502-807-9927

I knew I recognized that rig. I saw it for 13 as well, but a member offered it to me yesterday for $20

It's the American way boys, buy low sell high. The previous owner got what he wanted out of it or he wouldn't have sold it! He put up a price, and a guy showed up with the money to buy it.. Why is that wrong? That's called business, do you go to work all day and say well I feel like i only put in $7 an hour worth today to your boss? Does Toyota build cars and trucks and sell them for less than it cost to build them... NEWS FLASH Pay attention to the classifieds boys and have cash in hand, that's how this works..... Oh and no I was not the guy who bought it!

Guys - I am the loser who sold the truck. Actually got $14 but that is a far cry from $25. I am sick. My bad for not keeping up with the market and knowing its value. The dude that bought the truck said he worked on cruisers for a living and this was his dream truck. Keeping it forever. Someone emailed me about the ad. Wish I had never seen it. Live and learn.

You're no loser...we talked for a bit the day of the sale as I missed out and I could tell immediately you were a stand up, honest guy. You did price your 40 way low, but as you said live and learn for sure. The buyer lied to you and that's the shame as you wanted a good home...but that may happen with the next owner (I'm feeling overly positive today) :-)

I see nothing wrong with buying a good deal to then flip it. I wouldn't tell the seller but wouldn't tell him I was keeping it forever. I do feel bad for the OP.

Well I just saw this listed Walton for $25k same exact truck

Here is the ad. Getting tired of flippers. Greed is what's destroying this country

well honestly you got what you deserved in my opinion. I was the first in line for her (mutton otter), you gave me your number, i called and left a message and got no response. It would had gone to a good home and eventually given to one of my boys when they got old enough to drive.
instead it went to a flipper who couldn't give a s*** where it ends up. But hey, you can't really blame him, it's his and he can do whatever he wants with it.
fxxxing sad though

Why is this thread still going? The original seller got what you wanted for it. The new owner sold it and he'll probably get what he wants for. The end of story

Did anyone bother to tell the seller he might have his FJ40 priced too low?

Funny you ask, I sent the seller this very PM less than 4 hours after he originally posted the for sale thread:

Unless you are misrepresenting or hiding something crazy wrong about your 40 - you can get at least $20k for it - hence the immediate interest. Best

He never replied to my PM then nor another PM I sent him a few days ago to say at least this mud member was looking out for him but don't sweat it and move on etc - no reply to that PM either.

Maybe it's something in the water in Cincinnati. This guy bought this nice 78 for $17,100 in February and has it listed for $23,999. Used the previous owner's ad copy word for word too.

I almost bought that one from the original previous owner, it is in OK shape, but there are some issues that need to be addressed (although his pictures look great), IMO it is a bit high. 17-18 was probably fair value.
