Hello,

I am requesting some guidance on the vacuum hose routing on my 76 FJ40 2F engine, Aisan Carb. The Previous Owner removed the smog components. I will also note that I live in Denver and although the PO was from the area, It's original owner had it registered in CA. My concern is if it was adjusted for the altitude. The symptoms are that it starts right up with full choke but once it is warm it won't idle with the choke off. It needs to be out about a half to three quaters of an inch. It just seems to be running rich. Top end is good.

I have two vacuum lines which I will illistrate below and I have plugged some ports. I have looked at previous threads but would like some clarity.

Sounds like your idle solenoid is bad or disconnected.

Where does the line that is connected to the vac retard on your dizzy run to? Looks like it runs to the ported vacuum fitting on the base of the carb.

Sorry, is the Dizzy the port on the side of the distributor? If so it runs to the base of the carb on the passenger side. Hope this makes sense.

"Dizzy"=distributor. That is the vacuum retarder on the distributor.

That line can be removed. Cap off the ported vacuum fitting on the carb.

I am hearing a click but it's when I return the key to off.
