If I, like a dumbass, did not use a puller to remove the pitman arm and instead attempted to smack it with a BFH and sorta damaged the end threads of the gearbox to pitman shaft, can I use a tap and die to re-cut them? Is this a really bad idea? I'm not able to thread the nut on anymore that keeps the pitman arm on its shaft.

Any opinions on how effective recutting these threads would be?

Thanks guys........

If you can find a metric die, no reason it wouldn't work fine. I have a stock box off a 1980 if you want it. (non power). I'm in Odessa.

They'll be good as new. You might need to clean up the threads on the nut as well.

THOUGHT SO.....I'm now running Saginaw and just wanted to make sure I hadn't turned it into a giant paperweight......
