Here's what I've got up for sale. I'm asking $8000. It's not a restored beauty, but this thing has guts! Here's the skinny on it:
I'm the 3rd owner of this 40. Bought in Costa Rica and drove back to NY. Made it the whole way too. Paid 6k there. It's easy to say that it wasn't worth that much, but cars generally retain higher values there for a number of reasons, mostly because of import fees, but this is besides the point.
Since I've had it back in the states, I've tried to build this thing to be daily driving friendly but still capable off road as well. I never drove it in the NY winters and seeing as it was located in a warm climate, there was never any heating system installed. So here's a brief description of mods and such.
Ditched the original B/h41? for something with power that could easily attain US highway speeds (sadly the b couldn't). Found a 13b-t/h55 from a mud regular (thanks lynchmob) and finished the swap about 2 months ago. Currently the truck RIPS compared to what it was once capable of. I've got a hardtop with ambulance doors too.
mods:
8274-50 24v -$1700 new not used once for recovery
4" deluxe safari lift from MAF (with OME shocks)- $1100
MetalTech Jackson cage- $500
New driveshafts (to accommodate for the h55)-$400
Front and rear disc conversion- ~$500
BFG MT 33's on newer wheels- $500
Aussie rear locker- $289
4x4 labs hi-steer- ~$500
13b-t/h55f/splitcase- $4000
Besttop soft top- ~$500
Along the way of doing all these, little things were encountered that had to be addressed. Steering knuckles rebuilt, seals replaced, new bearings, lights etc. I also contemplated getting this thing to run on WVO, but haven't had the time to do it. But it has strong potential to run on grease.
The body is not perfect. There is some rust on the floor (small holes) and some bubbling around the wheelwells. There are two spots where it is rusted through around the rear of the tub also. Sounds scary but it's really not much. The frame is in excellent shape rust wise: -None to report. It's solid! I don't do body work and was never really concerned about the looks, just the nuts and bolts. So it would need some body work and a paintjob if you're looking to get fancy. If you want to go play in the woods, you'd never worry about it.
So that's it in a nutshell. Almost 10k into it since 4/2009 with receipts for the big stuff.
Looking for a lifted/locked 60 (prefer diesel
) to haul my **** around in. This truck was part of an awesome adventurous part of my life and I have mixed feelings about letting it go (obviously) and would like to see it go to another cruiserhead. But it's always good to move on and now seems like the right time. It's far from perfect, but this truck is one of a kind.
Located in the Albany NY area.
I've got a ton of pics that I can email, just didn't want to upload all of them at once. Some of the ones that are below are before the lift and 33's. Don't let em scare you, it's different now.
