My dad and I bought a '74 FJ55 as a parts truck to compliment our '73. Purchased about 10 yrs ago. When purchased it ran and drove but it currently seems to have a distributor issue (I believe it only has a centifugal advance). I messed with it about 2yrs ago for all of 15mins but didn't get it running at the time
(no silly comments allowed about the dist. wires being disconnected...I was troubleshooting!).
It has been sitting since.
The rundown:
-Camo paint job.
-Past owner took out the 4 speed and it has a 3 on the floor with a "new" aftermarket rear driveshaft.
-Front brakes (drums) are not hooked up, but rears work (front brake line output from master cylinder has a short crimped line on it. Don't ask me why, that's how I bought it!
-I have a drum front axle from another truck that will be included. Partially disassembled (birfs/axles and diff removed) but with all brake parts. Diff, birfs, housing will be included in the sale if you want it. Warn hubs.
-Front bench seat replaced w/ VW buckets. Rear bench removed but comes with the truck.
-Dash removed but comes with the truck.
-Drivetrain is complete and doesn't appear to suffer from any significant leaks.
-Fr and Rr bumpers pretty worthless.
-Tailgate has been dented and the rear glass is gone due to a run-in with a tree. Sorry but I don't have a picture of this. The body near the taillight has been damaged, too.
-Taillights in good condition but slightly cloudy.
-Left front lower and upper fenders are gone.
-Tailgate motor & mechanism in good shape and has been removed and stored indoors.
-Frame is rusted but nothing unusual for a southeastern truck.
-Body rockers in rough shape.
-Hood is seriously dented and rusty.
-Stock drum wheels with 31" all-terrains originally from my "good" truck
This is no trailer
but with a little work could be a trail truck or hunting rig. I think the pictures speak for themselves.
Sorry, the camera I had to use for some of the pictures was not the greatest.
Truck located in Greensboro, NC. Title in hand.
Asking price: 1000obo
I will be away from mud for a couple days, but I will get back to everyone who has questions.
Thanks for looking,
Mike
