I have had this project for only 2 months and the squeaky wheel (the wife) is getting greased. The 40 has a 1F engine that just went bad this past Friday. The 3 speed tranny shifts fine, but I think the clutch is about to go. The body doesn't have any major holes, with the exception of around the transfer case/transmission hump. The electrical will need to be redone, headlights, wipers, blinkers and brake lights all work. Instrument cluster, tail lights do not work.
The 4X4 was never tested, but PO said it worked fine (don't they all say that).
I bought an 84 GMC 3/4 ton van with the mentioned 350 small block, 4 bolt main and turbo 350 automatic transmission. The engine and tranny are still in the van and run great together. No hard shifting, no stalling, no bad idling, but it will need a tune up. I drove the van an hour to my house without any problems. The van comes with the 40 for free.
It was my intention to build this as a great DD, and moderate off road crawler, but my other mind made the decision, and despite how I feel about this project, I would rather have a happy household.
Feel free to PM me and let me know what you think it is worth. I will send as many pics as you need me to, especially of any areas you'd like to see up close. I have $6500 in this project, not looking to get that out of it, just need it to go.
Trades will be considered, reliable transportation is key. The 40 will need to be towed, van can be driven with accompanying vehicle (brake lights do not work) .
