I've seen very few skids that had to go to scrap, and most of those came from rigs that were running hard trails, so: hats-off to you, sir! 🫡

I’ve never joked around with my 70….

Well that's about the cutest little thing I've ever seen...

So, thinking this through, it looks like they did it in three pieces: main body, small support rib, and the secondary portion of the body. I'm guessing they did it on a water jet and then cleaned it for welding...and the welding itself is simple enough that even I could do it. The skid is not very big, so a shop press with something like a SWAG brake would do the bends...and if one wanted to spend time with the fitting and spend a bit more time with careful cutting, one could do it out of a single piece of material. I might consider two pieces, personally; that rib could be a bolt-in solution just as easily as it could be welded...and eliminating either a tight bend or a long weld seam opens up the door for aluminum. You can't weld too much - or at all - on 6061-T6 without wrecking the tempering you paid for (at least, I can't, but I suck at welding) but you can definitely bend it and drill holes in it. I'm kind of tempted to try making one; it's a little more deceptive than it looks at first blush, but it's definitely doable. Good place to save some steel weight, as well.
